Its headquarters are based in Minneapolis, Minnesota with its manufacturing facility in Owatonna, Minnesota. The company designs, engineers and manufactures industry-leading full volumetric modular units for the multi-family apartment and hospitality industries in the Upper Midwest.Job Description: The Safety and Training Manager is responsible for ensuring a safe and compliant work environment within the manufacturing facility. This includes developing, implementing, and overseeing safety programs, conducting safety audits, and ensuring all safety practices align with OSHA regulations and company policies. The Safety and Training Manager manages the Workers' Compensation program, including accident investigations, claims management, and return-to-work processes, aiming to reduce workplace injuries and improve overall safety performance. The Safety and Training Manager is also responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and management of training programs across the organization. This part of the role involves assessing training needs, designing effective learning experiences, and ensuring employees are equipped with the skills and knowledge to succeed in their roles.Responsibilities:
  • Safety Program Development and Compliance:
  • Work with Operations to develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety programs and policies in compliance with OSHA, state, local, and industry-specific regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of facilities, equipment, and work sites to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
  • Monitor and ensure adherence to safety regulations, company policies, and procedures.
  • Stay updated on safety standards, laws, and regulations, ensuring the company remains in compliance.
  • Prepare and maintain records for safety audits, inspections, accident investigations, and Workers' Compensation claims.
  • Safety Training Program Design and Delivery:
  • Design, schedule, and deliver safety training programs for all employees, including new hire orientation, job-specific safety training, and ongoing safety education.
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans and training.
  • Ensure that all employees are properly trained in the safe use of equipment, machinery, personal protective equipment (PPE), and other safety practices.
  • Maintain accurate training records for all employees and ensure certifications are up-to-date.
  • Workers' Compensation Program Management:
  • Oversee and manage the company's Workers' Compensation program, ensuring all work-related injuries are reported accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate with insurance providers to manage claims, track the status of open claims, and resolve disputes when necessary.
  • Facilitate the return-to-work program, working with People Operations and supervisors to ensure injured employees are reintegrated into the workforce safely and in compliance with medical recommendations.
  • Monitor and report on Workers' Compensation trends, identify areas for improvement, and recommend safety improvements to reduce claims.
  • Employee Training and Professional Development:
  • Develop and execute comprehensive training programs for employees at all levels.
  • Assess training needs through surveys, interviews, and performance reviews.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs, making improvements as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate training records and certifications for employees using software such as a Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Collaborate with department heads to ensure training aligns with company objectives and employee growth.
  • Manage all training budgets and ensure that all activities are cost-effective.
  • Stay updated on the latest trends in training and development to incorporate innovative techniques into the company's training programs.
  • Collaborate with department heads and management to ensure training programs support the company's goals and the employees' professional growth.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field (preferred). Certification in safety management (e.g., Certified Safety Professional (CSP), OSHA 30-hour, etc.) is a plus.
    Experience:
    • Minimum of 4 years of experience in safety management, preferably in a manufacturing or construction environment.
    • Proven experience in developing, implementing, and overseeing safety and training programs.
    • Experience with OSHA regulations and safety compliance in a manufacturing or construction setting.
    Skills & Abilities:
    • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety standards, and best practices.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train and influence employees at all levels.
    • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to conduct safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software/tools.
