Location Description:

Wakefield is one of the largest production facilities within Michael Foods. We serve as a flex plant and are able to produce everything from a whole pasteurized egg to liquid, dried, hardboiled and curds.

Responsibilities:

POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Safety Manager, the Safety Administrative Assistant provides support to the Safety Department. S/he is responsible for processing documents for the safety department. Most of the tasks assigned in this role revolve around tracking, preparing and filing documents for the safety department. The Safety Administrative Assistant may conduct some general safety training.

This position has the responsibility to comply with Safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value. Ensures that all policies, procedures and activities, related to Food Safety & Quality, are followed and complied with uniformly, in an effort to reduce product and process variability.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • File, track and record training records for the Wakefield Locations.
  • Create training packets for supervisors and managers.
  • Track corrective actions from audits into an excel database.
  • Help maintain up-to-date training files for all employees.
  • Help with posting of safety data around the plant.
  • Help with the development of the Wakefield monthly newsletter.
  • Provide clerical support for the Safety Manager.
  • Provide back up support when the Safety Assistant is out of the office.
  • Help issue safety supplies to employees.
  • Conduced Safety audits as directed by the Safety Manager.
  • Promote and ensure health and wellness through health fairs, education and training.
  • Follow MFEPC Safety Policies as well as OSHA regulations to enforce safe work practices.
  • Compile and enter data, determine information to include in reports, verify data, generate reports and distribute to appropriate parties.
  • Participate on plant teams as a leader, action item owner, meeting scribe as needed or assigned
  • Assumes personal responsibility to insure safe and healthy workplace for everyone.
  • Adheres to all safety policies and procedures and, incorporate safety and health in all jobs and tasks.
  • Adheres to Quality work practices, follow GMP's, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety and quality.
  • Able to work overtime and holidays when needed.
  • Insures regulatory compliance at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups, customers/vendors or employees of the organization.
  • Proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Have a good understanding of OSHA.
  • Strong attention to detail.

PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in a related field (i.e. general safety, HR, business, etc.).
  • Ability to facilitate meetings and provide training to all levels of employee.
  • Must have the ability to work independently, establish priorities and accomplish objectives with minimal supervision.
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish) is preferred
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
