Paid mileage for travel between facilities.COMPENSATION & BENEFITSThe salary range for this position will be $56,000 to $70,000 commensurate with your experience. Benefits include BCBS Medical, Dental and Vision coverage - Group Life - Paid PTO Plan - 401K Plan w/10% Match - FSA Plan and optional voluntary benefits.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESThe Safety Coordinator & CDL Driver Recruiter is responsible for two critical areas within the organization: ensuring the safety compliance of operations and recruiting qualified CDL drivers. This dual-role position requires a balance of overseeing workplace safety standards, conducting safety training, and managing driver recruitment activities to meet company needs. The ideal candidate will have experience in safety coordination, a strong understanding of DOT regulations, and recruitment expertise in sourcing and onboarding CDL drivers.As the Safety Coordinator it will be your responsibility to support a strong safety culture by fostering personal responsibility for safety across the organization. The role involves developing and maintaining safety programs, policies, and procedures tailored to the transportation and logistics industry, ensuring compliance with DOT, FMCSA, and OSHA regulations. Responsibilities include organizing and conducting safety training, monitoring certifications, investigating accidents or near misses, administering workers' compensation claims, and ensuring employees receive proper medical attention. The Safety Coordinator will also conduct regular audits and inspections to identify hazards and recommend improvements.As the Recruiter your role will be to develop and implement recruitment strategies for sourcing qualified CDL drivers through job boards, social media, networking, and employee referrals. Responsibilities include reviewing resumes, conducting phone interviews, coordinating candidate interviews with hiring managers, and managing the onboarding process, including background checks, drug testing, and DOT physicals. The role requires maintaining a pipeline of CDL driver candidates, ensuring compliance with DOT guidelines, and collaborating with management to forecast hiring needs. The recruiter will also promote the company's values and culture as an attractive place to work.RequirementsEducation: Bachelor's degree in Safety Management, Occupational Health & Safety, Transportation and Logistics, Human Resources, Business Administration, or equivalent work experience.Experience:* 2-4 years in safety management, preferably in transportation/logistics.* 1-3 years in recruiting, especially hiring CDL drivers is advantageous.* Prior experience with regulatory compliance and safety program development.Knowledge: Familiarity with industry regulations and best practices (DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, EPA, HAZMAT).Technical Skills: Proficiency in safety, training, and reporting software, ATS, and recruiting platforms (LinkedIn, Indeed). Strong Microsoft Office skills.Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to attract candidates and communicate effectively with hiring managers.Recruiting Skills: Ability to sell the company or driving jobs, especially given the shortage of qualified drivers.ABOUT THE JA GROUP TEAMThe JA Group is a Transportation and Logistics provider with facilities in McHenry, Lake and Cook counties.
