Accepting Applications until filled.Starting Salary Range $63,795 - $86,797Job Summary: The Safety Coordinator is responsible for reducing risk and creating a safer environment for MNAA personnel, the general public including persons with disabilities, conducting regulatory inspections i.e., Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Americans with Disabilities' Act (ADA), identifying safety hazards and program deficiencies under compliance with OSHA Standards (29 CFR; 1910), ADA & Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) ADA self-assessments. Other responsibilities include, developing policies & procedures, corrective actions, training materials, and job safety analyses (JSA) to include reviewing, providing guidance & implementing various regulatory changes to required safety programs such as Tennessee OSHA's Occupational Safety and Health Program, Control of Hazardous Energy Program, and Respiratory Protection Program.Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Independently conducts operational risk surveys, not less than monthly, to include inspection of equipment, machinery, and working conditions to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations.
- Conducts periodic walk-through inspections of the terminal to identify safety and ADA related issues that create risk for MNAA, the general public, and persons with disabilities.
- Evaluates operational deficiencies, prepares finding reports, and recommends remedies to reduce risk.
- Tracks items identified in an audit/inspection to ensure all issues were addressed and resolved.
- Coordinates required safety programs such as Hazard Communication, Personal Protective Equipment, and Control of Hazardous Energy, to ensure regulatory requirements are met; also provides guidance on regulatory changes.
- Develops, updates, and delivers annual OSHA and other safety trainings to MNAA personnel.
- Works with Maintenance and DPS teams to conduct annual chemical inventories (over 1,000 chemicals), conducts chemical spot checks not less than monthly, and updates the online chemical inventory database (adding and archiving SDS Sheets).
- Conducts air and noise sampling with specialized equipment such as calibrated gas meters and noise dosimeters to set baselines, evaluate exposures, and make recommendations for implementation to reduce noise exposure.
- Coordinates required emergency planning for severe weather and annual fire drills.
- Oversees ergonomic assessments of workstations and makes recommendations to reduce injury risk.
- Enforces safe work practices and corrects unsafe employee behaviors through training and mentoring.
- Oversees ladder annual inventory and inspection program and conducts ladder inspections of all inventoried ladders not less than quarterly.
- Oversees annual roof anchor inspection.
- Develops PPE Hazard Assessments and Job Safety Analyses for various teams and annually reviews each PPE Hazard Assessment and Job Safety Analysis.
- Oversees annual fire extinguisher service and conducts monthly fire extinguisher inspections for compliance standards.
- Prepares and distributes monthly toolbox talk training material and maintains training records.
- Conducts monthly ramp walks and participates in cleanup events with airlines, service providers, and MNAA Maintenance Personnel as scheduled to include documenting findings, recommending remedies, and updating metrics.
- Conducts annual FAA ADA Self-Assessments and quarterly in house ADA Assessments.
- Assists with planning annual ADA Week.
- Coordinates monthly Hazard Recognition Competition. Includes logging submissions and tracking corrective actions.
- Assists with coordinating Safety Committee meetings and planning annual Safety Day/Expo event.
- Assists with safety investigations, analyzes accident data resulting from the investigations, and implements preventive programs.
- Participates on the American's with Disabilities Act (ADA) Committee and recommends remedies to resolve complaints.
- Periodically escorts agencies touring MNAA for risk, hazard, safety, and access audits. Follows all safety regulations.
- Maintains regular and on-time attendance.
- Supports MNAAs commitment to its culture and values, including Respect, Integrity, Service and Excellence (RISE).
- Performs other duties as assigned.
