This position plays a crucial role in maintaining a safe work environment, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and reducing the risk of accidents or injuries. Essential Job Functions:
- Develop and Implement Safety Policies: Establish safety policies and enforce procedures that comply with DOSH / OSHA regulations, specifically tailored to HVAC work environments.
- Conduct Safety Training: Provide safety training for employees on equipment operation, identifying hazards and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Perform Job Site Inspections: Regularly inspect job sites to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety protocols. This includes checking for proper use of safety equipment, fall protection, and hazardous material handling.
- Accident Investigation: Investigate any accidents, injuries, or near misses to determine the cause and implement measures to prevent recurrence. This includes gathering witness statements, reviewing video footage (if available), and documenting findings in a comprehensive report for both internal and regulatory review.
- Maintain Safety Records: Keep detailed records of safety training, inspections, incidents, and corrective actions. These records are essential for compliance and help identify trends or areas needing improvement.
- Implement Hazard Control Measures: Identify potential hazards in HVAC work, such as working in confined spaces or handling refrigerants, and implement control measures to reduce risks.
- Monitor Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that the company adheres to all local, state, and federal safety regulations, including those specific to the HVAC industry, such as proper handling and disposal of refrigerants.
- Risk Assessment and Job Hazard Analysis: Conduct risk assessments and job hazard analyses for different HVAC tasks to identify potential safety risks and establish safe work practices.
- Emergency Preparedness: Develop and communicate emergency response plans, including protocols for evacuations, fire safety, chemical spills, and other potential emergencies.
- Promote a Safety Culture: Foster a proactive safety culture by encouraging employees to prioritize safety, report hazards, and contribute to creating a safe working environment.

Work Environment:As a Safety Coordinator at R & R Heating & Air Conditioning, you'll perform walk-around safety inspections that identify work-related hazards and mitigate exposure company-wide. This role is also expected to complete administrative responsibilities which may include providing internal safety training, designing new policies, and evaluating the effectiveness of the program measured by maintaining a low EMR.
