MAJOR FUNCTIONSThis position is responsible for field safety leadership across Port Wilmington and supports the Mid-Atlantic Safety Director in the implementation and management of the HSE program.PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Ensure Port Wilmington Safety Policy and OSHA Compliance is adhered to daily.
- Implement safety policies and procedures through direct interaction and group training.
- Inspect work sites to ensure working conditions are compliant with OSHA standards and Port Wilmington safety processes and procedures.
- Participate in regular safety and security audits on-site and coordinate corrective action feedback to Mid-Atlantic Safety Manager and operations management.
- Lead safety training, safety meetings and toolbox talks as assigned.
- Work with terminal warehouse management and ship superintendents to ensure all safety concerns are addressed timely.
- Monitor the execution and effectiveness of corrective action by working with terminal/warehouse management, ILA labor, and ship superintendents and the appropriate regulatory organization.
- Participate in and lead accident and incident investigation teams as assigned, ensuring that all incidents are properly reported, documented, and investigated.
- Maintain confidentiality of all company incident files and all required documentation in compliance with regulatory and company standards.
- Will be required to walk, stand, and bend throughout the shift.
- Must be able to climb up and down ladders, stairs, and equipment.
- Adapt to climates based on outside weather conditions, as well as indoor refrigerated warehouse spaces.
- Able to work in an environment with moving objects, and machinery.
- Must be able to work varied hours and shifts including days, nights, weekends and holidays.
- Complete other duties as assigned by manager.

MINIMUM PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTSEducational Background4-year degree preferred; Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering.Technical Qualification / Certification
- OSHA Certifications preferred.
- Obtain and maintain TWIC credentials within 90 days of hire.
- Valid/unexpired driver's license
- Proficient in MS Office Applications, ability to learn new software.
Related Work Experience3-5 years of experience within the maritime industry and union labor management preferred
