The Safety Coordinator/RRC, under general direction and review, develops, implements and monitors safety programs for all levels of Resource Recovery Center staff. This employee performs regular training and retraining programs on safety standards. The Safety Coordinator/RRC reviews new regulations and makes compliance recommendations. This employee also develops and assists in general training for RRC staff. This employee also maintains a database to document training and performs other related duties as assigned.1. Possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupation Safety & Health Management, Engineering Technology or closely related field AND have a minimum of one (1) year full-time professional work experience as a staff safety trainer; OR Have completed OSHA 30-hr. General Industry Training Course AND have a minimum of three (3) years full-time professional work experience as a staff safety trainer.2. Must have valid driver's license. PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES An employee in this class performs generally sedentary activities requiring the occasional lifting of objects weighing thirty-five (35) pounds or less. ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS This employee works in the offices of the Muskegon County Resource Recovery Center. Utility locating requires outdoor work in all possible weather conditions. Travel throughout Muskegon County may be required. EVALUATION CONTENT The selected candidate must take a post-offer medical examination (including back screen and complete physical) and drug screening test given by a County appointed physician before the first day of employment. An offer of employment is contingent upon the results of the medical examination and drug screening test. Applicants for County employment may be subject to a post-offer criminal background check, depending on the nature and assignment of the position. When such check is conducted, an offer of employment is contingent upon the results of the criminal background check. Appointees must satisfactorily complete a probationary period before the appointment will be considered permanent. Inquiries should be directed to the County Human Resources Department. PURPOSE The purpose of this recruitment is to establish an eligible list from which to fill present and future vacancies in this classification in the County system. For each opening, the Department Head has her/his choice of the candidates who meet the required minimum entrance qualifications. This list remains in effect for three months unless exhausted or extended.
