The Director of Safety is responsible for leading the development and implementation of the organizational safety management plan, including the identification of risk and mitigation strategies, and the development of policies, procedures, and processes. This role ensures compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, incorporation of appropriate industry standards and best practices. The Director of Safety will drive a culture of safety, continuous improvement of safety performance and risk mitigation across all business units. This role will also oversee the development and facilitation of safety training and partner with business area leaders to ensure safety measures are incorporated into specific task training initiatives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement a scalable safety management organizational strategy.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, provincial, and federal safety regulations, including but not limited to the Occupational Health and Safety Administration, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, Environmental Protection Agency and associated and incorporated agencies.
• Collect critical data and records, develop safety performance metrics, and analyze trends, to further risk mitigation measures and ensure a healthy culture, which includes facilitating the conducting of inspections, audits.
• Support leadership in the investigation of accidents and incidents, assist in the identification of areas of improvements, and the implementation of corrective actions.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on safety-related issues and regulations, providing leadership and direction on safety initiatives and programs.
• Design and implement comprehensive safety training programs for employees at all levels.
• Provide coaching and support to managers and employees on safety practices.
• Lead and mentor a team of safety professionals, providing guidance and performance feedback.
• Allocate resources effectively to meet safety objectives.
• Prepare and present safety performance reports to senior leadership and regulatory agencies.
• Stay up to date on industry trends, emerging risks, and regulatory changes.
• Drive continuous improvement in safety performance through innovative scalable approaches and integration of best practices.
• Lead safety initiatives, driving organizational culture that incorporates safety as a foundational pillar.

Education, Experience and Other Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field; master's degree preferred or relevant experience.
• Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in progressive safety management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Dedicated to business and allow flexibility with work hours if necessary, covering weekend and evening hours as needed.
