As a Safety Intern, you will play a crucial role in enhancing workplace safety by conducting on-site surveys and effectively communicating improvement findings across all organizational levels. Your responsibilities will include developing and delivering training on safety topics tailored to client needs and applicable regulations, preparing and presenting detailed reports on policy progress internally, and contributing to the creation and implementation of safety policies, programs, and initiatives. You will use specialized software to track project details and time, as well as to develop safety resources. Additionally, you will serve as a liaison with regulatory bodies, addressing client issues and demonstrating strong organizational and communication skills throughout your internship.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Effectively communicate improvement findings to all levels in an organization
  • Develop and provide training on safety topics at client training events
  • Develop safety training in accordance with applicable entities and client needs
  • Prepare and present reports to share policy progress internally
  • Develop and assist in the implementation of safety policies, programs, and efforts
  • Utilize software to track project time and details
  • Utilize software to develop safety resources

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be an enrolled student pursuing a degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field
  • Ability to effectively communicate safety concepts and improvement findings to individual at all levels within an organization
  • Eagerness to gain practical experience in the field of safety and contribute positively to safety programs and initiatives
  • Commitment to following safety protocols and procedures during on-site visits and throughout project work

Preferred Skills:

  • Any prior experience in safety-related roles, internships, or coursework demonstrating a foundational understanding of safety principles
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with colleagues and clients
  • Willingness to adapt to different work environments and project requirements
  • Attention to detail when conducting safety assessments and preparing reports
  • Proficient in using safety-related software tools for data analysis, report generation, and resource development
  • Eagerness to stay updated on industry trends, regulations, and best practices in occupational health and safety

Additional Notes:

  • This will be a Fall Semester Internship, flexible work schedule will be provided to accommodate class schedule, 15-20 hours a week
  • The location of the role will be in-person in our Grand Rapids, Michigan office
