Position OverviewThe Dolomite Intern program creates an opportunity for college students to gain practical skills. This position will be responsible for supporting the operations team. This is a paid summer internship at $20 per hour. As a Safety Intern at Dolomite Group, you'll work closely with our Safety Department to help promote and maintain a safe working environment across all lines of business. This internship will provide valuable insight into the role of safety professionals within the previously listed industries, offering you hands-on experience with safety initiatives and regulatory compliance.Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
  • Exposure to real-world safety practices and regulatory compliance.
  • Hands-on experience with safety initiatives and relationship-building strategies.
  • Opportunities to participate in multimedia safety inspections and contingency planning.
  • Mentorship from experienced safety professionals.
  • A dynamic work environment with opportunities to travel to various locations
  • Participate in the creation of digital safety trainings to be distributed throughout the company.
  • Help develop safety relationship-building strategies within all of our divisions.
  • Assist in regulatory compliance inspections and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Support the Safety Department in contingency planning and safety reporting.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Ensure compliance with company policies or procedures for product transit or delivery.
  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public.
  • Possess a strong drive to fulfill commitments and tremendous enthusiasm.
  • Requires daytime, nighttime & some weekend hours. Travel will be required inside the company's operational area.
  • Report to the assigned job site with appropriate personal protective equipment and ready to begin work at the designated start time.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Environmental, Health & Safety Manual.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license
Knowledge/Skill Requirements
  • Currently enrolled in a college degree program, preferably in Safety or a related field.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to promoting safety.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable automobile
  • Willingness to drive to our multiple sites across the Greater Rochester Region and Southern Tier with mileage reimbursement program
