Position Overview

Are you an experienced construction Safety Manager passionate about safety? At Weeks Marine & Kiewit, one of our guiding principles on marine infrastructure projects is, “Nobody Gets Hurt.” We're currently looking for a safety manager who creates, supports, and audits our program which reinforces our commitment to safety.

Responsibilities
  • Managing the company environmental health and safety programs at the project level, driving a safety-oriented approach to work.
  • Compiling, analyzing, and interpreting occupational illness and accident statistical data at the project level.
  • Recommending process and product safety features that will reduce employee exposure to hazards.
  • Routinely inspecting facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards.
  • Monitoring the workforce for unsafe behaviors and coaching employees on correct behaviors.
  • Developing environmental health and safety training materials.
  • Managing training records for all safety training initiatives.
  • Interpreting safety regulations for the project.
  • Coordinating and presenting safety training to support client requirements.
  • Interfacing with OSHA officials/inspectors during site visits.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Safety, or a related field.
  • CSP or CHST is preferred.
  • At least 8 years of experience managing Safety on construction projects related to heavy civil construction.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage all aspects of a safety program on complex projects.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and hazard recognition.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Professional interaction with all levels of management.
  • CPR/First Aid, EMT certification, and OSHA/MSHA instructor certifications preferred.
  • Able to access all points of a construction site in various climates.

Other Requirements:• Regular, reliable attendance• Work productively and meet deadlines• Communicate effectively in a team environment• Perform work safely and follow instructions• Work during normal operating hours• May work at various locations with varying conditions.

Base Compensation: $139,000/yr - $150,000/yr

(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to factors such as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
