**SUMMARY****-**
Pratt Industries has a need for a Safety Manager as part of the project team for its brand new 100% recycled paper mill in Henderson, KY. The Safety Manager will be responsible for all company safety programming and training. This position will require some initial out-of-state training.
**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:** (Other duties may be assigned)-
Oversee and develop company safety programs
Investigate incidents, monitor medical care
Assist in conducting (leading) safety inspections, meetings, and training programs
Conduct new-hire safety orientation program
Assist in the hiring and interviewing of production personnel as related to safety requirements
Monitor light duty program: develop jobs; communicate with physician/doctor, etc.
Complete and maintain all paperwork with regards to work-related incidents
Assist with the purchasing safety equipment and systems
Responsible for facility fire protection systems and subsequent training
Maintain membership in applicable safety or environmental associations to stay informed of new developments and trends
Prepare legal notices, postings, and reports as required by government and regulatory bodies
Comply with company policies and procedures
Investigate complaints from surrounding community and foster a good relationship with neighbors
Additional duties as assigned by management
**EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE****-**
Two years of experience in the safety field
Post-secondary educational degree (2 to 4 year degree from college, university, technical school, military, vocational or other advanced educational institution) **REQUIRED**
Candidates are preferred who offer the following:
BS degree in Safety related field
Experience in the Safety field in the paper industry
**LANGUAGE SKILLS****-**
Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical procedures, manuals, regulations, and codes
Ability to write business reports and correspondence
Ability to communicate effectively with suppliers, contractors, employees and outside officials to the company
Clear, concise oral and written communication skills
**MATHEMATICAL SKILLS****-**
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, volume, and net present value. Able to apply concepts of algebra and geometry along with basic math (adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing)
**REASONING ABILITY****-**
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
**TECHNICAL SKILLS****-**
Ability to gather information and perform root cause analysis and problem solving
Ability to create reports for review by upper management
Ability to lead teams in waste reduction efforts
Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
Quality Standards (e.g. ISO 9001/2000 and EMS 14001

**PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS****-**
Performance will be measured by the overall health and safety of the mill and its employees, along with outside contractors, suppliers, etc.
