Job Description:
Safety Manager - Electrical Contracting and ConstructionMid Atlantic Electrical Contracting Company is seeking a Safety Manager to oversee implement and enforce safety programs, and ensure cross-company compliance with local, state, and federal safely regulations.This includes implementing effective injury prevention programs, ensuring compliance with company policies, standards and regulatory requirements and helping to build consistency throughout the company by providing functional/technical expertise and assisting operational leaders with building a stronger safety culture. Travel to multiple locations required.This position also implements safety controls associated with all operational work hazards, including field review/validation, process development of all work hazardous guidelines and in field safety observations. He/she will also review safety lock-out/tag-out procedure verification, personal protective equipment for associated work scopes to help classify/prevent hazards related to electrical and construction related issues and consultation will also be expected on electrical safety issues and the use of standards including but not limited to OSHA, NEC (NFPA 70), and NFPA 70E.Essential Functions:
  • Leads all safety incident investigations to ensure root causes are determined and corrective actions are implemented. Analyzes incident reports and evaluates injury case studies to aggressively pinpoint and mitigate safety risks.
  • Builds employee relationships to advance safety knowledge and hazard mitigation through coaching, mentoring, and engagement with employees at all levels of the organization
  • Works with each division to respond to, identify and implement actions required to address safety audit findings in a timely, effective and cost-efficient manner.
  • Designs and implements programs, policies, and procedures to prevent and eliminate injuries
  • Acts as company subject matter expert (SME) for all safety compliance related matters.
  • Maintains current knowledge database on all safety regulations, including, but not limited to OSHA, MOSH, & VOSH
  • Conducts risk assessments of jobs, tasks and employees.
  • Maintains the company's safety procedure(s) to ensure industry specific regulatory compliance in the field and at the Corporate Level
  • Process all claims, including injuries, accidents, and violations in harmony with our insurers and agents
  • Respond to/investigate vehicle misuse claims or complaints
  • Conduct Safe Work Practices reviews and safety inspections of various projects to identify existing problems and trends.
  • Conducts on-site evaluation of all property, structures and buildings owned, operated or leased by our company.
  • Oversees the Safety portion of new hire on-boarding
  • Designs and implements programs, policies, and procedures to prevent and eliminate injuries
Additional Responsibilities:
  • CPR, Defensive Driving and OSHA training of employees
  • Management of Workers Compensation program
  • Administration of general liability and motor vehicle claims.
  • Vehicle and Asset protection
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining safety metrics that identify trends and track actions
  • Administer employee certification database and track compliance
  • Meet with clients and potential clients that request an overview of our company's safety policy
  • Review safety components of client contracts.
  • Coordinate and schedule company-wide, division-specific, and individual safety training based on specific position or contract requirements.
  • Order and maintain safety equipment inventory for distribution to field employees
  • Maintain MSDS Safety Data Program across that company
  • Oversee and Maintain compliance for Fire Inspection Safety requirements, and participate in fire Safety inspections with the fire department, when applicable.
Qualifications - Education, Training & Experience:
  • BS Safety Engineering, Safety Sciences, Engineering, Construction or similar
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent
  • OSHA 500 or 501
  • Minimum of 5 years of previous safety experience ideally in a related industry. Experience supporting multiple locations preferred
Qualifications - Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Significant knowledge of U.S. Safety laws and regulations
  • SME level safety knowledge
  • Ability to work accurately and methodically under pressure and strict deadlines
  • Strong leadership, presentation, facilitation, customer service, time management and attention to detail skills are essential
  • Advanced to expert skills using Microsoft suite, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, particularly the ability to influence and negotiate both internally and externally with an open and inclusive style
  • Ability to work within a high-performance, cross-functional organization with extremely tight timelines and aggressive goals.
  • Good presentation skills
