Job Description:

Our Dodson, LA lumber mill has an immediate opening for a Safety Manager. This is a full-time, salaried exempt position and provides excellent growth potential and opportunities for advancement.

Dodson Lumber is located on Hwy 167 approximately 10 miles south of Jonesboro, LA, and approximately 15 miles north of Winnfield, LA. Many of our Dodson employees reside in Jackson, Winn, and Lincoln Parishes. Lincoln Parish is home to Louisiana Tech University and Grambling State University and North Louisiana is home to various state parks such as Lake Claiborne and Kisatchie National Forest with a variety of activities, like hiking, fishing, hunting, kayaking, and camping.

Our mill produces high-quality Southern Yellow Pine lumber used for residential construction throughout the Southern and Eastern USA. We have a reputation for manufacturing excellence and continuous improvement. The current opportunity is on day shift, however the successful candidate must be willing to work other shifts and weekends when needed.

This position will have the accountability for establishing reliable methods for improving safety performance and nourishing a culture in which safety is an overriding value in all activities and in which every associate assumes accountability for safety initiatives and expectations. The Safety Manager also ensures the unit is in compliance with OSHA regulatory expectations in addition to business and Company guidelines and initiatives. This position reports to the Mill Manager.

* Bachelor's Degree & minimum of three (3) years' safety experience OR five (5) years' health & safety experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting

* Good working knowledge of OSHA regulations / requirements

* Passion for safety as demonstrated by a strong commitment to associate safety

* Understands safety processes with ability to complete an internal audit/review

* Experience in leading and/or participating in safety Incident Investigations

* Knowledge of chemical and Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) systems management

* Ability to develop and effectively deliver safety training

* Project management skills to include strong leadership with the ability to develop and implement safety processes

* Strong, engaging, people-centered leadership style

* Ability to build positive working relationships with hourly and salaried associates

* Proactive, assertive and ability to work with a sense of urgency

* Ability to plan, prioritize and work under pressure and meet deadlines

* Demonstrated computer skills and proficiency in MS Office and knowledge of health & safety software programs

* High level of integrity, strong work ethic, good judgment, and problem-solving skills

* Willingness to work extended hours should a situation warrant

The following qualifications are preferred:

* Bachelor's degree in Environmental or Occupational Health & Safety

* Knowledge of site manufacturing processes

* Safety & industrial hygiene certification and/or training

* Experience in wood products manufacturing

Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $72,742-$130,00 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 7% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

Retirement: Employees are able to enroll in our company's 401k plan, which includes a paid company match in addition to our annual contribution equal to 5% of your base salary.

Paid Time Off or Vacation: We provide eligible employees who are scheduled to work 25 hours or more per week with 3-weeks of paid vacation to use during your first year of employment. In addition, after being employed for six months, eligible employees begin to accrue vacation for future use. We also recognize eleven paid holidays per year, providing a total of 88 holiday hours
