Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive safety and environmental programs aimed at reducing workplace incidents.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local health and safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate records and manuals related to safety programs.
- Set and manage departmental goals tied to key metrics, such as lost-time accidents.
- Lead budget planning and goal-setting activities related to safety and compliance.
- Plan and oversee company safety initiatives, including coordinating safety committees.
- Monitor industrial hygiene factors, such as chemical exposure, noise levels, and lighting.
- Provide guidance on hazard identification and mitigation, promoting a proactive safety culture.
- Deliver training and maintain communication with employees regarding safety protocols.
- Collaborate with OSHA and internal safety teams during audits and inspections, ensuring corrective actions are documented.
- Regularly tour the facility to identify potential risks and engage with employees on safety concerns.
- Perform other duties and special projects as needed.
Qualifications
- BS in Environmental Safety, Safety, Industrial Technology, or a related field preferred; equivalent of 5+ years of plant safety experience required.
- 5+ years in environmental safety within manufacturing environments, leadership experience is preferred
- Must have manufacturing safety experience; preference for candidates with high-speed packaging, CPG, food, or any fast-paced manufacturing experience.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and safety best practices.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while influencing multiple levels of management.
- Proven ability to identify and mitigate safety risks effectively.
