Job Description:
The Safety Manager is responsible for leading the company's safety initiatives, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and fostering a culture of safety across the organization. This role involves conducting risk reviews, managing the company's fleet operations and ensuring compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations. The Safety Manager will also oversee the development and implementation of safety training programs, policies and culture while managing liability and auto insurance. Additionally, the role includes collaboration with Human Resources on workers' compensation cases.Essential Functions:
  • Conduct comprehensive risk reviews to identify and mitigate potential safety hazards across all operations.
  • Develop and implement strategies to minimize risk and improve overall safety performance.
  • Oversee the safety and compliance of the company's fleet, ensuring all vehicles meet DOT standards.
  • Monitor and manage fleet safety programs, including driver safety training and vehicle maintenance.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT, EPA and OSHA regulations, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of relevant standards.
  • Develop, implement and monitor programs to meet regulatory requirements.
  • Manage the company's liability and auto insurance programs, ensuring adequate coverage and compliance with legal requirements.
  • Work with insurance providers to handle claims and reduce overall insurance costs.
  • Collaborate with Human Resources on workers' compensation cases, ensuring timely and effective management of claims.
  • Develop and implement strategies to reduce workplace injuries and associated workers' compensation costs.
  • Design and deliver safety training programs for employees at all levels, ensuring awareness and understanding of safety policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and make necessary adjustments to improve outcomes.
  • Develop, implement and maintain comprehensive safety policies and programs that promote a culture of safety within the organization.
  • Regularly review and update safety policies to ensure they remain current and effective.
  • Manage relationships and work directly with insurance brokers safety resources to build strong safety procedures and practices at Marco.
  • Lead initiatives to build and maintain a strong safety culture across all levels of the organization.
  • Engage with employees to promote safe work practices and foster a proactive approach to safety.
  • Attend required company and departmental meetings.
  • Act in accordance with Marco policies and procedures as set forth in the Employee Handbook.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field, preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in safety management, preferably in a similar industry.
  • Certification in safety management (e.g., CSP, CIH) preferred.
Required Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of DOT, EPA, and OSHA regulations.
  • Excellent communication and training skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and generate actionable insights.
  • Strong leadership and team collaboration abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
