Position Title: Safety Monitor AideDepartment: SchoolReports To: PrincipalFLSA Status: Non-ExemptSUMMARY: The purpose of the Safety Monitor Aide is to work with all stakeholders to help promote safety andsecurity in all areas of the school as well as reports any potentially unsafe situation to appropriate supervisory personnel in a timely manner. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate with administration and school resource officer to develop procedures to increase the safety and security of the school.
- Patrol corridors, restrooms, and school grounds observing situations to ensure a safe and secure environment.
- Supervise specific areas at specific times as scheduled or assigned by school administration.
- Monitor school entrances as needed.
- Tactfully address students and adults who are not wearing identification badges, visitors passes, an appropriate uniform, or another acceptable form of identification in the school building.
- Attend appropriate in-service programs which will increase security and/or safety skills (such as CPR training, conflict, resolution, de-escalation programs, etc.)
- Supervise classrooms and/or group gatherings in emergency situations or as assigned.
- Perform other duties as needed or assigned for the purpose of creating a safe and secure environment.
JOB SPECIFICATIONSEDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:Meets Highly Qualified standards as defined by the Every Student Succeeds Act: Associate's Degree preferred, or High School diploma or general education degree with 60 hours college credit from an accredited college, or passing score on the ParaPro exam.
