Location: all cities,GA, USA
As the safety officer, you will patrol assigned areas to ensure personal, building, and equipment security by examining doors, windows, and gates with university keys to open and close them. In this role you will monitor closed buildings for unauthorized persons and/or suspicious activities; provide escort services for visitors, students, staff, and faculty; and provide public assistance, such as lockout services, jump-starts, and routine information. Responsibilities include watching for and reporting irregularities such as security breaches and hazards, contacting emergency responders, confronting and/or detaining violators until police arrive, and performing periodic checks of emergency call boxes and/or streetlights to ensure proper functioning. In this position you will be expected to prepare routine, standardized reports, control access to facilities and events, and serve as the Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery Act.
The ideal candidate must maintain a level of physical fitness that allows for standing/walking inside or outside during a shift, running in response to calls for service, climbing or descending multiple flights of stairs, performing CPR, assisting with the lifting or carrying of persons, and lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. Additionally, they must be able to remain alert for the presence of unauthorized persons who are security code violators, approach suspicious persons, and provide safe transportation to university employees and/or visitors using an institutional vehicle as requested.

Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other work days and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
