The Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring compliance with safety regulations and promoting a safe working environment on all job sites. This role involves developing and enforcing safety policies, conducting site inspections, identifying hazards, and providing training to employees. The officer works closely with project managers and site supervisors to minimize risks, investigate incidents, and maintain a strong safety culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of construction sites.
- Develop, implement, and enforce safety policies and procedures.
- Identify workplace hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Deliver safety training and toolbox talks to workers.
- Procuring tools and equipment to support all job sites.
- Monitor compliance with OSHA regulations and other applicable standards.
- Investigate accidents and near-miss incidents, documenting findings, and solutions.
- Maintain safety records and ensure all safety equipment is properly maintained.
Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of OSHA standards and construction safety regulations.
- Experience in construction preferred.
- Experience in the insurance industry is a significant asset.
- Certification in safety management (e.g., OSHA 30, CSP, or CHST) preferred.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
