The Safety Representative at Olympus Energy is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards are upheld at all times. The role requires monitoring workplace conditions, enforcing safety protocols, conducting regular safety inspections, and promoting a culture of safety across all operations. The Safety Rep will serve as a key point of contact for safety-related concerns and will help ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and company safety policies.
Key Responsibilities:
Safety Monitoring & Enforcement:- Conduct regular safety inspections of work sites, equipment, and operations.
- Identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure that all safety procedures are followed, including the use of PPE, safe equipment handling, and emergency protocols.
- Monitor workers for adherence to safety standards and report non-compliance to supervisors.
- Provide or facilitate safety training to employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Promote awareness of company policies and legal requirements related to health, safety, and environmental protection.
- Conduct toolbox talks, safety meetings, and emergency drills as required.
- Investigate accidents, near-misses, and safety incidents to identify root causes.
- Document findings and recommend corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Assist in reporting incidents to regulatory agencies as needed.
- Maintain accurate safety reports, inspection logs, training records, and compliance documentation.
- Prepare reports for management on safety performance and areas requiring attention.
- Assist in the preparation of safety reports for regulatory agencies, as required.
- Participate in internal and external safety audits.
- Assist in implementing corrective actions and continuous improvements based on audit findings.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; a degree or certification in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field is preferred.
- Valid Drivers License
- Experience:
- 2+ years of experience in a safety or HSE role in the oil and gas, construction, or industrial sector.
- Previous experience with safety monitoring, incident investigation, and risk assessment is a plus.
- Certifications:
- SafeLand preferred
- GSP or ASP preferred
- First Aid/CPR certification is often required.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations and industry standards (e.g., OSHA, EPA).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with workers and management.
- Ability to identify safety hazards and recommend effective solutions.
- Proficient in using safety management software and tools.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software
