This position reports directly to the Security Manager. The Safety Associate must be able to interpret and take appropriate actions regarding conditions and incidents relating to safety of campus.
- Provides a prompt and courteous customer service-oriented response to patients, families, visitors, and vendors to the campus(es)
- Provides the presence and actions necessary to promote a safe and secure environment by:
- Maintaining documentation, including but not limited to approvals for patient property brought to campus, all incoming patients/family members, visitors, contractors, and deliveries to the campus.
- Communicates regularly and effectively with departmental staff via emails, phone calls or radio transmission.
- Monitoring the campus camera systems from the Welcome Center for the safety of the campus.
- Monitors and responds to all incoming communications to Security department via emails, phone calls or radio transmission.
- Monitoring Fire Panel System and Alarms at the Welcome Center, notifying Security staff of all emergency codes.
- Completing safety checks in our building, parking lots and campus grounds when additional assistance is requested.
- Assist the Security department by identifying and addressing any issues relating to the safety of the campus.
- Stay alert and responsive to all activity at the Welcome Center and surrounding areas.
- Completes daily documenting for Emergency Codes and CHIRP Incident Reports regarding any event outside of normal operations as they occur.
- May assist the Security department by responding to emergency situations such as Code Greys when in the Welcome Center as well as a Code Red emergency when on campus, to assist the Security staff evacuating the buildings according to established policies and procedures.
- May assist the Security department by De-escalating and managing physical and verbal altercations, focusing on using the least amount of physical force that is necessary.
- Participates in debriefing and peer reviews regarding any critical situations.
- Maintains confidentiality of company and patient information.
- Deliver packages, boxes, and company mail to the mail room as needed.
- Escort visitors, Metro or Emergency Responders to appropriate locations as needed.
- Complete vehicle searches for prohibited items, according to established policies and procedures when a request for assistance by departmental staff.
- Performs routine 2-hour rotations from Welcome Center and Campus Grounds..
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred and/or a one (1) year safety related experience equivalent.
- CPRS certification is preferred but not required.
- Valid Tennessee Driver's License required.
- Proficient computer skills including Microsoft (Outlook, Work and Excel)
- Excellent Customer Service skills.
- Ability to make decisions under stressful conditions.
- Ability to problem-solve, analyze, and interpret information.
- Superior organizational skills for managing and prioritizing multiple tasks and projects
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently.
- Ability to adapt to changing circumstances in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to effectively speak, read and write in English.
- Ability to interact with co-workers in a collaborative and courteous manner while providing guidance, instruction, and training.
- If recovering, one year of verifiable abstinence required with two years preferred; active participation in a twelve-step program preferred.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Position is in an internal and external occupational setting that involves exposure to weather conditions (i.e., cold, heat, rain, snow or ice).
- Position requires frequent contact with people in crisis, including those who are emotionally volatile and may require additional safety precautions.
- May perform CPR/First Aid as needed (being certified or eligible is required)
- Position is subject to varying shifts, including weekends as well as staying overnight for inclement weather as part of critical staffing.
- Ability to lift and/or push pull up to 75 lbs. multiple times a day; move around campus on uneven and rural terrain; run or climb stairs in a rapid manner.
