Salary: $17.61 HourlyLocation : Government Services Center - Westtown, PAJob Type: Part TimeJob Number: 01209Department: Emergency ServicesDivision: Safety and SecurityOpening Date: 02/28/2024Closing Date: ContinuousWeekly Hours: 19Shift: Monday - Friday: 4pm - 12am and 12am - 8am Saturday and Sunday: All Shifts: 8am - 4pm; 4pm - 12am; and 12am - 8amSummary The Safety & Security Operator is responsible for patrolling designated County facilities to prevent fire, theft, vandalism, illegal entry, and to protect the occupants of the facility. Be responsible for the security and safety of County facilities, and tour the assigned facility to identify any irregularities, observe protection and fire control equipment, uphold order, and enforce regulations for the facility in regards to the premises, personnel, and visitors. Essential Duties::Ensure the security, safety, and well-being of all personnel, visitors, and the premises; Provide excellent customer service; Protect the County's assets relative to theft, assault, fire, and other safety issuesConfiscate illegal contraband and notify supervisory personnel immediately upon discovery.Control visitors 100% at all times and handle any sensitive situations as they occur; Report and document all incidents, confrontation or confiscation, or hazardous situations; Maintain a favorable image to the general public and county employees; Monitor surveillance camerasAbility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays. Qualifications / Requirements:High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED); Strong verbal and written communication skills; Strong professional ethics; Ability to maintain confidential information and handle confidential matters; Preferred Skills:Customer service experience; Corrections or law enforcement background; Ability to properly use an X-ray scanner; Skill and knowledge using a metal detector; Essential Duties
  • Ensure the security, safety, and well-being of all personnel, visitors, and the premises.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Remain in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Immediately respond to emergencies to provide necessary assistance to employees and visitors.
  • Protect the County's assets relative to theft, assault, fire, and other safety issues
  • Observe the screens that transmit the views of persons and their belongings (weapons detection must be 100% at all times).
  • Confiscate and remove all weapons being carried by individuals.
  • Detect and confiscate all sound or image capturing devices.
  • Maintain custody of and return all legally possessed confiscated items to the owners upon completion of their business.
  • Confiscate illegal contraband and notify supervisory personnel immediately upon discovery.
  • Control visitors 100% at all times and handle any sensitive situations as they occur.
  • Report and document all incidents, confrontation or confiscation, or hazardous situations.
  • Respond to all alarms and on-site incidents.
  • Provide necessary and appropriate access to local emergency services when required at posted facility.
  • Conform to orders on a daily basis.
  • Test detection equipment daily to ensure full operational condition and report problems immediately.
  • Maintain a favorable image to the general public and county employees.
  • Immediately assist the public and county employees.
  • Monitor surveillance cameras
  • Perform other duties, tasks and special projects, as required.
Qualifications/Preferred Skills, Knowledge & Experience Qualifications / Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Must exhibit courteous and tactful behavior at all times.
  • Flexible and able to conform to directives issued by a supervisor.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong professional ethics.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to follow protocol.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information and handle confidential matters.
  • Certified in First Aid and CPR. (or ability to obtain)
Preferred Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
  • Corrections or law enforcement background.
  • Basic criminal and civil law knowledge and experience.
  • One year or more of job-related experience.
  • Background in security.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Ability to properly use an X-ray scanner.
  • Strong people skills.
  • Skill and knowledge using a metal detector.
  • Strong listening skills.
  • Able to use common sense understanding to carry out written or verbal instructions.
  • Ability to handle and resolve recurring problems.
  • Accurate and detail oriented.
