Large Industrial Manufacturing Corporation seeks Safety Specialist (EHS) to join their Environmental Health & Safety team. This is working on as a part of a team and supports plants in Minnesota and six additional states.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safety Leadership: Guide and support team members to ensure adherence to relevant safety regulations and company standards. Assist in investigating incidents and implementing corrective measures. Continuously seek opportunities to enhance overall health and safety performance within the organization. Manage and oversee the safety training program, including its content, delivery, and associated reporting.
  • Safety Assessments: Conduct regular evaluations of safety practices at various locations. Share findings and manage the related documentation process.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Handle required external safety reporting, including maintaining logs and managing safety databases.
  • Policy and Procedure Management: Collaborate with leadership to update safety-related policies and procedures, ensuring they align with current regulations. Monitor employee compliance with established policies.
  • Security Compliance: Assist in maintaining adherence to security requirements for the facilities, including emergency response protocols.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Help manage emergency response programs, including coordinating drills and training for response teams.
  • General Duties: Perform additional tasks as needed to support the overall safety and compliance efforts.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience
  • At least five years of experience in a safety or compliance role
  • Preferred certifications include advanced safety coursework or certifications
  • OSHA 30 and/or OSHA 511 coursework preferred
  • ASP/CSP certification preferred
  • Experience in developing and delivering training programs is a plus
  • Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit, stand, and move around for extended periods in both office and manufacturing environments
  • Work in conditions that may include exposure to various odors, temperatures, and noise levels
  • Use personal protective equipment as required
  • Ability to ascend/descend stairs and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
