Job DescriptionPosition Title: Safety SpecialistReports to: Safety ManagerFLSA: Full Time ExemptJob Summary: The Safety Specialist position would support the Versova Safety Department and facilities at Trillium Farms by coordinating the company's safety programs at the facility and to ensure employee and contractor safety during all aspects of operations happening at the farm. This person will be responsible for observing safety practices and program functions to ensure that all employees and contractors on site are performing according to company policy as well as Federal and State laws. Position reports to the Trillium Farms Safety Manager. Compensation for this position is $65,000-$75,000 per year.Essential Job Functions:
- Ensure safety compliance to State and federal health and safety standards.
- Promote and maintain a safe work environment and a culture consistent with Versova's Guiding Principles and Core Values
- Conduct routine and follow-up safety and hazard inspections of existing facilities.
- Maintain records of facilities inspections, corrective actions, training documentation, and document control
- Assist in the development and implementation of safety programs, policies, and procedures in multiple areas of operations in the facilities
- Assist in the development and conduct the training required for all employees in all areas of health and safety standards
- Coordinate the investigation of accidents and incidents to identify their root causes and to determine how they might be prevented in the future along with analyzing accident and incidents for trends
- Coordinate completion of all required documentation and recordkeeping
- Assist with coordination of inspections, assessments, surveys, and program evaluations to identify potential hazards, and ensures compliance with all applicable safety and environmental rules
- Assist Versova Safety Department in all safety compliance regulation needs
- Review and update LOTO written procedures for equipment
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Skills:
- 4-Year College Degree OR related Safety experience equivalent to the degree
- Bilingual (Spanish English)
- 30 Hour OSHA for General Industry Certificate
- Experience dealing with regulatory agencies (i.e., OSHA, State programs, etc.)
- Ability to recognize imminent danger and act accordingly in a general industry setting
- Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management
- Ability to develop, implement and enforce safety programs and protocols
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to gather data, compile information and prepare reports and required documentation
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Competent in the Microsoft Office Suite of products (Word, Outlook, Excel)
- Ability to respond on site to events occurring outside of normal business hours as required.
- Ability to work in various climate conditions including extreme heat and cold environments, walking, standing, and sitting for prolonged periods of time.
