Job Description:

UES is looking to add a Safety Specialist to its Houston location. This position monitors workplace activities to promote and ensure employee compliance with applicable safety regulations. This position requires a bachelor's degree in safety or a related field, or a combination of certifications and experience. This position requires a person who can keep a clear head in crisis situations and can help foresee potential safety hazards and apprise fellow employees and management of how to avoid them. A proven safety leader with a positive attitude and a mind for safety is a must!

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.

* Conducts employee training on applicable safety standards.

* Reviews safety training and recommends revisions, improvements, and updates.

* Conducts safety inspections and audits to assess employee compliance with safety regulations.

* Inspects safety equipment; recommends replacements.

* Drafts and implements internal safety standards and policies.

* Reviews accidents and incidents reported by employees and visitors to the facility.

* Performs other related duties as assigned.

* Perform incident investigation to determine root cause and generate corrective actions.

EDUCATION and/or QUALIFICATIONS

* Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Occupational Safety and Health (preferred).

* 5+ years of experience in safety is required.

* Proficient in MS Office and ability to learn internal databases.

* A valid Texas driver license and acceptable driving record

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

* CSP Certified Safety Professional (highly preferred).

* OSHA 30-Hour Construction required.

* OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER with 8-Hour refresher preferred.
