Responsibilities
Focus :
The Health and Safety Technician will work closely with the assigned organization, contractors, site EHS leadership, and other members of the Texas Operations EHS team, to ensure full compliance with all environmental, health, and safety regulations, enhance EHS awareness, and improve EH&S performance
* Work within corporate strategies and policy frameworks, design, propose, and implement H&S procedures to meet EHS site requirements while supporting short and long-term business needs
* Has RCRA/DOT to Sign Manifests
* Provide targeted assistance to support site and organizational H&S action plans; collaborate with employees, supervisors, and contractor partners to identify and correct potential environmental, safety, security, and health hazards
* Participate in plant audits and interface with operations support personnel, contractor partners, and regulatory and governmental auditors
* Investigate accidents or problem areas and recommend future preventive measures
* Provide technical H&S expertise and coaching to facilitate broad accountability of the H&S process

Qualifications
* Associates degree in EHS, Quality, Safety, or related discipline and 3+ years of H&S experience in a chemical plant;
* OR, High school diploma or equivalent and 6+ years relevant experience in a chemical plant with a focus on EHS improvements
* Must have RCRA/DOT training to sign manifests and/or have any safety training.
* Excellent written and verbal interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
* Working knowledge of all EHS regulations, standards, processes, and tools; plant / department operations and processes.
