Job Description:
Safety SpecialistAssist Safety Director in reviewing, evaluating,and analyzing work environments and project safety in conjunction withsupervisory personnel.This position requiresup to 90% field travel. Design, modify, and coordinate safety programs andprocedures to control, eliminate, and prevent injury and disease under thedirection of the Safety Director.Assistthe Safety Director in enforcing adherence to laws and regulations governingthe health and safety of individuals and compliance with corporate safetyprogram standards. Collaborate and interface with operations on a daily basisto reach company objectives under the Safety Director.Responsibilities:
  • Preventhazardous working conditions and unsafe employee activities through safetymanagement and contacting supervisory personnel under the Safety Director.
  • Helpexamining jobsites, departments, & branches to assess/determine wheresafety improvements are needed.Positivelyimpact company performance by focusing on first line supervisors.
  • Facilitate hazard recognition and solutionsunder Safety Director
  • Respond,as a resource of information, to supervisors' questions and issues regardingsafety.
  • Developideas as to the source of unsafe behaviors and working environments.Recommend measures to ensure maximumemployee protection.
  • Helptrain supervisors and field personnel on required and supplemental safetytopics.Identify additional trainingwarranted through needs assessments.
  • Assistthe Safety Director as they lead and coordinate MetroPower's safety talk programto maximize effectiveness in terms of employee response, topic relevance, andimpact on the workforce.
  • Assistthe Safety Director as they lead customer safety training to support thecompany's customer relationships and reduce Branch 88 overhead.
  • Helpto ensure that all laws and regulations governing the health and safety ofindividuals are followed.Providecommunication to supervisors to allow for this abidance.
  • Reviewdocumentation to ensure all required records and reports are complete,accurate, and submitted per requirements and established procedures.Implement appropriate corrective action asneeded.
  • Supportthe Safety Director in ensuring that the company is staying abreast newsafety issues in the industry in order to react and implement adjustments assoon as possible.
  • Participatein operations' meetings to instruct employees in matters pertaining tooccupational health and accident prevention under direction of the SafetyDirector.
