Job Description:

As the Safety Supervisor, you will spearhead the design, implementation, and continuous enhancement of Environmental, Health, Safety, and Quality systems. Your role will ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations while driving improvements across our processes. You will be instrumental in overseeing audits, managing critical quality metrics, and representing the company to regulatory agencies. Your leadership will be crucial in fostering a culture of safety and quality within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Time and Attendance Management: Oversee the accurate and timely processing of employee time off, payroll, and attendance transactions.
  • Employee Support: Provide coaching, counseling, and disciplinary actions in accordance with company policies.
  • Quality Analysis: Collect and analyze data on product and process nonconformance, production quality, and quality trends. Generate reports and implement corrective actions to ensure adherence to quality standards.
  • Compliance Audits: Conduct and oversee audits of environmental, safety, and quality programs to ensure process compliance.
  • Customer and Regulatory Relations: Ensure products and services meet external and internal standards, including legal and customer requirements. Communicate with key customers as necessary.
  • Process Improvement: Identify critical points in the manufacturing process, establish sampling procedures, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Regulatory Representation: Act as the primary contact for regulatory agencies such as OSHA, DEQ, and EPA, managing all aspects of environmental health, safety, and quality compliance.
  • Incident Management: Lead incident investigations, determine root causes, and implement corrective and preventive measures to avoid recurrence.
  • Performance Tracking: Track, analyze, and report on key safety and quality metrics, driving continuous improvement.
  • Safety Programs: Engage in safety initiatives, including Safety and PIE Help Desks, Behavior-Based Safety Audits, Safe Work Cards, and reporting near misses and first aid incidents.
  • 6S Principles: Promote and maintain 6S principles (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain, and Safety) throughout the facility.

Education & Experience

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Environmental Health and Safety roles, with experience in ISO 9001 preferred.
  • Skills: Familiarity with root cause analysis, statistical process control, lean principles, and other analytical tools is advantageous.

Competencies

  • Regulatory Knowledge: Strong understanding of state and federal regulations, including OSHA and EPA standards.
  • Safety Culture: Ability to cultivate a safety-conscious culture with employee engagement and a passion for safety and environmental stewardship.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong interpersonal, leadership, analytical, and organizational abilities.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Activities: Frequent sitting; occasional walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and lifting.
  • Work Conditions: Primarily office environment with periods of exposure to the manufacturing floor. Understanding and application of PPE requirements and the ability to tolerate extreme temperatures are necessary. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
