Key Responsibilities:
* Safety Compliance:
* Monitor adherence to safety guidelines, protocols, and regulatory requirements.
* Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
* Investigate accidents, incidents, or near-misses and prepare detailed reports with root cause analysis.
* Training Program Management:
* Develop, implement, and update training programs on safety procedures, equipment operation, and emergency response.
* Coordinate training sessions for new hires and existing employees to ensure understanding and compliance.
* Assess training needs based on evolving safety regulations and operational changes.
* Safety Committee Facilitation:
* Establish and lead the safety committee, ensuring representation from various departments.
* Schedule and facilitate safety committee meetings, setting agendas, and documenting proceedings.
* Collaborate with committee members to address safety concerns, implement initiatives, and promote safety awareness.
* Partnership with Corporate EHS Director:
* Collaborate with the Corporate EHS Director on implementing company-wide safety initiatives and programs.
* Provide support for corporate EHS initiatives, ensuring alignment with local facility operations.
* Assist in compiling data and reports for corporate-level safety performance metrics and goals.
* SDS Management and Record-Keeping:
* Manage Safety Data Sheets (SDS) for all hazardous chemicals used in the facility.
* Ensure SDS are current, accessible, and compliant with regulatory requirements.
* Maintain accurate records of SDS updates, distribution, and employee training on chemical hazards.
* Documentation and Record-Keeping:
* Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training sessions, committee activities, SDS management, and incidents.
* Prepare reports for management and regulatory agencies as required.
* Review and update safety manuals, procedures, and policies to reflect current practices and regulations.
* Safety Culture Promotion:
* Promote a culture of safety consciousness and awareness throughout the organization.
* Organize safety awareness campaigns, workshops, and activities to engage employees.
* Serve as a resource for employees seeking guidance on safety-related matters.
* Emergency Preparedness:
* Develop and oversee emergency response plans and procedures.
* Conduct drills and simulations to evaluate the effectiveness of emergency plans.
* Ensure adequate availability and maintenance of emergency response equipment.
Qualifications:
* Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment.
* In-depth knowledge of safety procedures and regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.).
* Experience in facilitating and coordinating safety committee activities.
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify hazards and implement solutions.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively at all organizational
* Detail-oriented with proficiency in documentation and report writing.
* Certification in occupational health and safety (e.g., CSP, ASP, OHST) is preferred.
* Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
Working Conditions:
* Primarily works in a manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, noise, and other industrial hazards.
* Occasional travel to other facilities or training locations may be required.
* Flexible hours may be necessary to accommodate training schedules or emergency situations.
Physical Demands:
* Ability to stand, walk, and move around the manufacturing facility for extended periods.
* Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
* Use of personal protective equipment as required.
