Posting: Open to PublicPay Rate: $15.54Position Summary:Under the supervision of the Saganing Security Supervisor, protect the assets of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe including vendors, entertainers, guests, employees, and structures.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist in enforcing all Security Policies and Procedures and all company policies as directed.
  • Assisting with performing emergency evacuation procedures in the event of a man made or natural disaster, or other situations.
  • Remain alert and report any violations of Gaming Codes of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe or the MICS.
  • Handle irate, disorderly, or intoxicated guests in a professional manner.
  • Report and respond to medical emergencies utilizing proper medical emergency procedures as directed.
  • Perform emergency medical service activities including administering first aid and providing other medical assistance as required and replace medical equipment as needed.
  • Observe and report any possible criminal activity such as larcenies, weapons, and disputes between guests or team members.
  • Provide guests with information and/or direction about SCIT properties and surrounding areas.
  • Assist guests when they have any incontinence problems in a professional manner.
  • Check identification and observes guests; conduct bag checks when someone is entering or exiting building.
  • Patrol interior and exterior of building on a daily basis; patrol parking lots for any possible safety or security concerns, criminal activity, or anything out of the ordinary.
  • Ensure all machine doors have been secured to the best of their ability
  • Assist with moving, receiving, or blocking areas off as directed for machine moves.
  • Issue and control temporary badges for vendors, visitors, or associates.
  • Respond to vehicle accidents, take photos as necessary, and complete a report.
  • Practice Saganing Hospitality Rules with every internal and external guest.
  • Assist in maintaining a pleasant environment by removing and disposing of trash, cleaning up spills and clutter, and keeping work areas organized.
  • Provide excellent customer service for all internal and external customers of the operations at all times. Provide solutions for customer concerns and continually focus on customer service as our top priority.
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality and present a positive, professional demeanor and image at all times.
  • The above duties and responsibilities are not an all-inclusive list but rather a general representation of the duties and responsibilities associated with this position. The duties and responsibilities will be subject to change based on organizational needs and/or deemed necessary by the supervisor.
Contacts/Purpose of Contacts:
  • Contact with team members within the organization, general public, and emergency responders.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must pass a typing test with a minimum of 15 wpm.
  • Must be able to work any shift assigned, included weekends and holidays.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a gaming license to meet the employment eligibility requirements as they pertain to the position.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Security or surveillance experience.
License, Certification, or Special Requirements:
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Must have a valid State of Michigan Drivers License, with the proper designation required for the vehicle utilized to perform the job duties, and qualify for coverage by SCIT auto liability insurance carrier. A Tribal Drivers License will also be required if a Motor Pool Vehicle is used in the course and scope of the required job duties.
  • Native American preference shall apply to all positions.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of safety operations and procedures, safety methods and practices, and public/customer service skills in a casino and hotel
  • Knowledge of applicable federal, state, county, and local laws, regulations, and requirements.
  • Knowledge of business English, proper spelling, grammar, punctuation, and basic arithmetic.
  • Skill in computer operations and typing.
  • Skill in reading, writing, and mathematics.
  • Skill in sensing or spotting disruptive guests or situations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds and with co-workers at all levels.
  • Ability to follow instructions in verbal and written format
  • Ability to demonstrate moral character, honesty, tact, fairness, lack of prejudice and desire to help when dealing with people.

Physical Demands:
  • Frequent standing and walking throughout facility and outdoor areas.
  • Required to walk, sit, and/or stand for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to safely climb up and down stairs and uneven terrain.
  • Occasionally is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment
  • Frequent walking and standing in a smoking environment and contact with the general public. Constant visual stimulation via neon lights on slot machines, repeatedly changing machine video screens, static or flashing signs throughout the casino & hotel and constant machine and crowd noise.
  • Must possess sufficient stamina to work under all types of weather conditions including extreme hot/cold and to lift, carry, push, or pull a variety of tools, equipment and materials.
  • Required to monitor hundreds to thousands of guests gathered in a designated area where shoulder to shoulder confined space is common. Disruptive behavior and physical altercations may occur.
  • Exposure to hazards associated with first responder duties, including smoke, noxious odors, fumes, chemicals, solvents, oils, and rendering emergency medical services with potential exposure to blood borne pathogens and communicable diseases.
