The tutor serves in an embedded support role for designated classes, designs and conducts study sessions or workshops, and creates tutorials or other learning materials to aid students.Supervisorial Responsibilities: NoneRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities•A strong commitment to the mission of the community college.•Ability to facilitate the learning process in a supportive and student-centered environment.•Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with students and college employees.•Flexibility to adapt to students' needs.Required Qualifications•Bachelor degree in mathematics or a math-intensive subject area.•Experience in teaching or tutoring.•Demonstrated good interpersonal communication skills and ease in relating to a diverse student population.•Computer skills, especially in the areas of Microsoft Office, instructional software, learning management system, subject related technology, and online conferencing.Preferred Qualifications•Community college experience.•CRLA and/or ACTLA tutor certification.Physical Demands•Work is normally performed in a general office environment.•Work performed requires sensitivity and responsiveness to changing goals, priorities, and needs.•This position requires light physical activity and movement; employee must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups, and over the telephone or during virtual meetings.
