Business to Business Sales experience (preference given to those with hotel or conference center sales experience).Position SummaryThis incumbent engages in day-to-day sales and event management functions to ensure seamless execution of events at the Georgia Center for Continuing Education & Hotel. The employee has primary responsibility for account management, sales prospecting, and qualifying thereby generating new revenue opportunities while consistently striving to maximize opportunities and promote positive relationships with guests and colleagues. The individual in this position will demonstrate mastery in the sale and execution of events. They will oversee the collective coordination lifecycle of events from prospecting to implementation, to delivering outstanding guest service while maintaining financial profitability.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
  • Associate degree with significant and relevant experience.
  • Sales experience (preference given to those with hotel or conference center sales and/or meeting planning experience).
  • Experience in negotiation and sales.
  • Strong communication skills including both oral (in person and phone) and written, and public presentations.
  • Possess organizational and time management skills including the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while documenting client communication.
  • Ability to successfully meet the public and create a favorable impression of the Georgia Center; excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently, with initiative, within departmental guidelines.
  • Ability to demonstrate a strong work ethic and support a positive work environment.
  • Proficient in use of Windows Office Suite; internet research skills needed.
  • Ability to review basic financial reports, invoices, bills and statements to help determine appropriate space holds and deposit requirements.
  • Data management experience.

  • Communicate with prospects and clients (phone, e-mail and in person) in a timely fashion to ascertain their needs and route inquiries as appropriate.
  • Communications are predominantly reactive, though some proactive calls may be required.
  • Occasionally provide phone coverage during the primary answerers' absences.
  • May be called upon to represent the Georgia Center during sales blitzes and local shows as we prospect for opportunities to increase our group business.
  • Occasionally assist sales team members in preparing for Sales trips/trade show set-ups/tear-down.

  • Assist department members in on-going prospecting and pre-qualification projects.
  • Work includes data entry and researching available facilities.
  • Create and maintain accurate client records, utilizing the Georgia Center's CRM, PMS, and Facility Management Systems.
  • Complete projects and other work assigned by the Department Head in support of the department.

  • Schedule and inspect property resources for site inspections.
  • Manage and update property images and verbiage on on-line sources under the direction of the Department Head.
