The Reliable Sales Manager directs sales and marketing efforts with regard to Louver and Architectural customers by providing product knowledge and pricing assistance either directly or with subordinates with product promotion and introduction of new product to new and existing customers.
How you will do it
- Compiles lists of prospective customers for use as sales leads, based on information from ad inquiries, trade shows, direct mail responses, and other sources.
- Makes outbound lead follow-up calls to potential and existing customers by telephone, fax and e-mail to qualify leads and sell products and services.
- Handles inbound sales lead calls to convert calls into sales.
- Provides product demos to qualified customers on request.
- Quotes prices and credit terms, and prepares sales orders for orders obtained.
- Estimates date of delivery to customer, based on knowledge of own firm's production and delivery schedules.
- Builds and maintains customers relationships.
- Prepares reports of business transactions.
- Investigates and resolves customer problems with deliveries.
- Travels to customers, strategic partners and trade shows to promote Ruskin Company solutions.
- Provides technical support for both internal and external sales people in the areas of selection and application.
- Overcomes technical and business objections of prospective customers.
- Completes product research that will be used to help create definitions for new product development projects. Research includes: (1) competitive price analysis; (2) competitive performance analysis; (3) feature and accessory analysis; and (4) overview of strengths or weaknesses compared to competitors.
- Assists Regional Sales Managers with annual customer blanket quotes.
- Reviews blueprints/drawings, plans, and other customer documents to develop and prepare cost estimates.
- Identifies and researches new products for both private label promotion and organic product development.
- Identifies new distribution opportunities for both buy resell and direct sell promotions; assists with customer setup and training.
- Fulfill the responsibilities of the sales department with orders, which includes the following. Customer purchase order execution, internal pricing clarification, customer change order write-up and pricing, order write-up for order entry, clarification with engineering for construction, addressing of customer concerns during fabrication, arranging for special freight and resolving of disputes regarding quality and/or incorrect invoicing of orders.
- Develops literature including catalogs, brochures, price sheets, installation and maintenance manuals, submittals and case studies.
- Coordinate special design requests and special pricing with internal resources to ensure the company can meet its commitments.
- Provides solutions to field application problems using experience and other departments as resources.
- Develop internal and external sales and product training seminars.
- Creates presentations to support sales efforts.
- Maintain familiarity with the competitor's products and apply this knowledge to Ruskin Company's advantage.
- Develops product / process knowledge through plant visits, process raising seminars or others as required.
- Other duties may be assigned.
What we look for
• Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or two to four years related experience preferably in the HVAC industry (defined as having detailed product knowledge or the ability to demonstrate the application of products) and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Required knowledge / experience in MS Word and Excel using MS Windows platform. MS PowerPoint and AS400 experience is a plus.
• Approximately 20% to 30% travel required.
