POSITION OBJECTIVE AND PURPOSE:
The Comfort Consultant (Estimator) is responsible for meeting with customers and determining their needs, properly estimating the materials, labor and cost to perform the work necessary or recommended, provide a proposal to the customer, close the sale and thereafter manage that project to completion and collection. Their job is technical, sales and management all at once.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Technical:
- Determine what work needs to be performed based on applicable municipal codes and requirements and manufacturer specifications.
- Properly estimate the amount of labor and materials required to accomplish the work safely and properly.
- Provide customer with alternative installations and upgrades
- Take “before” pictures of proposed job during estimate and save digital copies in the appropriate customer file.
Sales:
- Properly service customer from both a sales and business relationship standpoint.
- Provide proposal to the customer specifying exactly what Bruni and Campisi will “include” and exactly what Bruni and Campisi will “exclude”.
- Use equipment, costs, pricing, mark-ups, etc. as provided and specified by Bruni & Campisi management and Bruni & Campisi procedures.
- Provide proposal to the customer during the first sales appointment, whenever possible. If not possible, proposal must be hand-delivered by the Comfort Consultant or emailed to the customer within 2 calendar days.
- Follow up with all open estimates on a weekly basis, unless otherwise directed by the customer.
- Meet with the Installation Supervisor and Technicians on job sites when requested.
- For jobs longer than 3 days, the Comfort Consultant must visit the job site no less than once every other work day.
- Meet with the customer at the end of each job to:
- o Go over work performed and verify the work is complete and all items contracted have been properly installed or delivered.
- o Verify customer is 100% satisfied and customer's needs have been met.
- o Collect any outstanding payments owed to Bruni and Campisi.
- o Complete the Job Completion Checklist.
- o Take photos of the completed job.
Management:
- Comfort Consultant is to provide appropriate submissions as required by the Company for the scheduling of any jobs sold by him/her including but not limited to:
- o Job Start Sheet
- o Material Lists
- o Customer Signed Contract
- o Utility Submissions
- o Site Plans
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Attend all Sales Meetings
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Ensure that all sub-contractors (if required) paperwork is current, and copies have been obtained.
Ensure that all costs associated with the estimating process are reviewed (using established guidelines) for accuracy periodically including, insurance, permits and labor rates, and subcontractor (if required).
Respond to any customer questions or complaints that are escalated from Installation Managers
Work closely and positively with the Installation Supervisors, Accounting, Installation Dispatcher, and Municipal Clerk to provide a positive and seamless experience for the customer.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of five years sales experience is required.
- Estimating/job management experience in either heating or air conditioning installation or another related field is preferred.
- Valid Driver's License
EDUCATION AND TRAINING:
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Computer proficient with estimating software, MS Office, Adobe Acrobat
- Strong working knowledge of heating and air conditioning industry preferred.
- Must have the ability to work effectively in and foster a participative, team-oriented environment.
- Must have the ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with others and to communicate ideas effectively, orally and in writing.
- Must be detail-oriented
- The qualifications listed above are guidelines. Other combinations of education and experience would provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform this job.
AUTHORITY:
The Estimator is given the authority required to complete the requirements of the position.
MEASURES OF PERFORMANCE:
- Dollar value of gross sales vs. forecast
- Average days to provide estimate is less than 2.
- Average gross profit percentage maintained above 50%
- Paperwork consistently completed thoroughly
- Maintain closing percentage above 40%
- Ability to work well within the company
COMPENSATION
This position is compensated on a commission basis with a draw against that commission. Commission amount varies depending on level of experience. Commission percentage is based on the gross sales and paid out on a per-job basis.
This position is reimbursed for certain expenses related to the job.
