This position provides primary health care in a clinical setting to patients of all ages. Primarily, visits will be with patients who come in for sick visits and/or potential COVID symptoms. Other focuses will be on disease prevention, health maintenance, patient education, and counseling. Collaborates with physicians, local health care facilities to provide delivery of services available following established guidelines as required and within established scope of practice. ESSENTIAL DUTIES and/or RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Perform complete histories and physical examinations as well as pre-operative evaluations
- Perform problem oriented examination for acute and chronic illnesses
- Order laboratory and other ancillary tests as needed.
- Complete appropriate forms such as disability, FMLA, etc.
- Discuss cases with MDs and other consultants
- Patient counseling and education
- Other related duties may be assigned.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. - Graduated from an accredited nurse practitioner program.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, and/or REGISTRATIONS:
- Current BLS certification
- Registered Nurse currently licensed in the United States
- Possesses Advanced Practice status as certified by the ANCC or AANP
- Possesses prescriptive privileges as granted by the Board of Nurses Examiners and to obtain federal DEA license
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and/or ABILITIES:
- Possess ability to work independently/autonomously and interdependently with other health care professionals
- Have patient assessment skills using diagnostic methods and instruments and ability to develop appropriate plan of care, modifying as indicated
- Possess effective communication skills and interpersonal skills with patients, families and members of health care team
- Possess ability to adapt to challenges on a day to day basis that accompany working in a rural health clinic
