Flushing Hospital Medical Center is a 293-bed, not-for-profit teaching hospital. The hospital offers a variety of services for a culturally diverse community, including Bariatric Surgical Service, Ambulatory Care Center, Women's Health Center, Wound Care Center, and Chemical Dependence Unit. Our busy on-site full-service pharmacy provides prescription services to discharged, emergency department, and clinic patients as well as employees. We are currently seeking an experienced Pharmacy Supervisor for an immediate full-time evening shift. Peer Advocate position are available in a Flushing Hospital SAMHSA funded 5-year Medication Assisted Treatment for Prescription Drug and Opioid Addiction (MAT-PDOA) Project. Peer Advocates will assist patients with Opioid Use Disorder to move through the stages of change from pre-contemplative, contemplative, preparation for action, action, and maintenance for harm reduction. Peer Advocates will assist patients by modeling coping skills, assisting with applying for benefits, providing non-clinical crisis support, especially after periods of hospitalization or incarceration, working with participants to identify strengths, and linking participants to formal recovery supports. Candidates will be part of a Department of Psychiatry and Addiction Services and will have the support of MDs, Physician Assistants, CASACs, LCSWs, Patient Care Coordinators, other Peer Advocates, and the Project Director.
Requirements - High School Diploma or equilvalent
- Candidates must have either a provisional or full CPRA
- Excellent Computer Skill, including Word and Excel
- Ability to keep patient engaged throughout the treatment process
- Ability to work with a group and individually
- Excellent communication skills
