Position DescriptionThis is a 3rd shift position (10:00 pm - 7:00 am) Sunday through Friday (Days, hours, start times, and end times may vary based on production needs.) The Sanitation Worker is responsible for supporting production needs for a clean, food safe environment. Under the direction of Sanitation Supervisor, Lead, or designee, the Sanitation Worker works with members of production to maintain a clean and food safe work environment. The Sanitation Worker also documents all cleaning activities to support the company's Sanitation Program. Other duties and responsibilities of a Sanitation Worker include:

- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to communicate concerns / problems and recommend solutions.
- Knowledge in safe and proper use of chemicals.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence and fill out appropriate paperwork.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure.
- Ability to perform job duties in a safe, efficient, accurate, and timely manner.
- Have an understanding needed to carry out instructions given in written or oral form.
- Proper cleaning and sanitizing of manufacturing equipment, tables, utensils, etc.
- Understand water use around electrical.
- Proper use of chemicals and mixing of chemicals.
- Proper labeling, storage and use of chemicals.
- Follow guidelines of pest control programs.
- Maintenance of hand washing, hand sanitizing, restrooms, offices, building windows, and cafeteria facilities.
- Maintain building premises and parking areas.
- Responsible for reporting quality and food safety issues or concerns to Management.
Physical Demands: - The employee is required to stand, sit, walk, push, pull, climb, reach overhead and bend to the floor.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds frequently.
- Must be able to see, hear and speak.
- Ability to stand 100% of the time (sitting 0% of the time).
- Ability to walk 50% of the time.
- Ability to turn, twist and/or squat.
- Ability to do heavy lifting (as needed).
- Ability to use hands/arms to handle, feel or reach for tools, hoses, and move equipment.
- Ability to work in various extreme environments in freezers, coolers, and in the production areas (wet, cold and/or hot).
- Ability to work at various heights
- The employee is subject to production environment approximately 90 percent of the work time. (wet environment with temperatures < 45 degrees)
- High noise levels from operating machines.
- Physical hazards from moving equipment and machine parts.
Qualifications/Education/Experience/Skills: - Attention to detail is essential.
- High School Graduate or Equivalent.
- At least 2 years of sanitation experience in the food industry.
- Knowledge in Standard Operating Procedures, lock out tag out, protective equipment, and moving machinery.
- Ability to follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- General knowledge of chemical properties and attributes.
- Technical understanding of food safety, environmental testing methods and theory.
