Location : Saint John's University - Collegeville, MNJob Type: Non-Exempt, Support Staff, Full TimeJob Number: 01914Department: Dining Service - SJUOpening Date: 10/09/2024Position Summary The Culinary Services department at Saint John's University invite applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE), benefit eligible position of Sanitation Associate. $1,000 sign-on bonus valid through December 31, 2024. Terms applied to sign-on bonus can be provided by hiring manager. This position will be responsible for general sanitation in our dishwashing areas and assist with the cleaning of other spaces in our dining room service area, as well as other assigned areas in and around the Dining Service. This person will organize the dish area and ensure that the proper procedures of sanitation prevail in this area.   • Ensures that the proper washing and sanitation of dishes, flatware, and pots and pans is done.
  • Responsible for the operation of the dish machine before, during and after mealtimes.
  • Responsible for daily cleaning of the dish room area and equipment organization.
  • Assists in training part-time staff and gives feedback as needed.
  • Works with recycling program, sorting recyclables, and ensuring that procedures are followed.
  • Assist in keeping all service and production areas restocked with equipment.
  • Will follow daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules of the Dining Services. It may include; the Main Refectory and Sexton Commons; Monastery, Seminary, Health Center, Student Dining Rooms, kitchen, production areas and restrooms.
  • Will occasionally be responsible to lock and secure the Dining service kitchen space.
  • Maintains a clean uniform and personal appearance. Must have sanitary work habits.
  • Attends required meetings and training sessions called by the Dining Service Department.
  • Provides input and feedback that suggests new ideas, cost saving ideas and provides quality service to our customers. Being a team player is essential.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
  • Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
    • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
    • Custodial experience preferred; willingness to do on the job training.
    • The ability to communicate effectively with Dining Service staff and student staff.
    • Ability to work with a variety of people and be a team player.
    • Ability to be knowledgeable and trained in the use of chemicals and cleaning products.
    • Ability to work five days a week including every second weekend and rotating holidays.
    Physical Requirements:
    • Lifting up to 30 lbs occasionally, lesser amounts frequently
    • Frequent pushing and pulling up to 30 lbs
    • Frequent reaching overhead
    • Frequent bending and stooping
    • Walking for extended periods
    • Occasional exposure to temperature extremes
    • Frequent exposure to cleaning and sanitizing solutions; use of single use and reusable gloves

Discounts on hearing exams and hearing aids are also included.TUITION REMISSIONTuition remission is an educational benefit provided by CSB/SJU. A full time employee and spouse (if applicable) are eligible for tuition free educational benefits the first full semester after six months of employment. Full time employees may enroll for one undergraduate course per term, which includes summer; up to a maximum of 2 courses per year. There is also a tuition remission program for dependent children of full time employees. This program provides a financial resource to a son or daughter for meeting the tuition costs of undergraduate education. Eligibility begins the fall or spring semester following 2 years (24 months) of continuous full-time employment.There are also two consortia programs in which CSB/SJU participate where employees' children may apply for scholarships to attend other colleges/universities. Tuition assistance is also available at Saint John's Preparatory School for the dependents of full-time employees. PARENTAL LEAVEA paid leave (up to 15 days) will be granted to eligible employees upon the birth or adoption of a child, pro-rated based on FTE. New employees are eligible for this benefit after twelve months of employment. SICK LEAVEFull-time employees earn up to 9 days of sick leave per year, pro-rated based on FTE. Sick leave is cumulative from year to year up to a maximum of 720 hours (90 days).
