Summary: The sanitation department is the foundation of our food safety program and plays a vital role in the program's success.Each crew member is responsible for maintaining the food safe quality of our product by following standard operating procedures to exceed industry and federal cleaning and sanitizing requirements.Is a proactive thinker by continuously learning about federally mandated standards, is innovative, efficient, and effective in the cleaning and sanitizing processes.This individual works diligently to unify the Martin's team through open communication channels with sanitation, production, and general maintenance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: •Contributes to the culture by exceeding quality expectations through cleaning and sanitizing the interior and exterior of the production facility. •Rigorously follows the master cleaning schedule as instructed to prepare the plant to be in audit ready status at all times. •Works with chemical cleaning agents to clean, sanitize and return production facility to operation. •Diligently cleans lint, dust, oil, grease and debris from production facility including machines, overhead pipes, screens and filters. •Efficiently operates CIP (Clean in Place) cleaning of enclosed piping systems. •Efficiently operates pressure washer, COP tank, floor scrubber, scissor lift and forklift, according to equipment specifications. •Thoroughly disassembles, cleans and reassembles equipment, returning it to operational state for next production run. •Transports trash and waste to tilt truck and disposal area. •Maintains cleanliness outside the bakery facility including silos, front entrance, exterior dock doors, roof, air vents and sewage treatment plant. •Works with integrity to adhere to safety, food safety, quality and Good Manufacturing Practices. •Wears personal protective equipment (safety eyewear, gloves, face shield, etc.). •Uses lockout/tagout procedures designated for equipment. •Looks for ways to improve and promote quality of work; applies feedback to improve performance.
- Reports safety, food safety and quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.
- Assists sanitation supervisor to coordinate cleaning schedule for sanitation employees.
- Verifies chemical PPM (Parts Per Million).
- Verifies cleanliness of equipment, facility and outside grounds through visual inspection and ATP swabbing.
- Inspects and ensures assigned jobs are complete.
- Communicates any employee relation issue observed to supervisor.
- Completes necessary reports such as accident reports, property damage reports, etc.
- Trains new and existing employees with cleaning practices.
- Helps maintain proper records through EAM system.
Supervisory Responsibilities: - Assigns and directs the work of sanitation employees. Administers policies and procedures fairly and consistently.

Education and/or Experience: - High School Diploma or GED;
- One to three years' related experience in bakery or manufacturing industries.
- Experience with boom and scissor lifts.
Leadership Skills: - Ability to influence and motivate others to embrace initiatives and pursue organizational development.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization. Ability to speak clearly, listen and respond.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uncomplicated written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: - Ability to operate or learn to operate powered equipment.
- Ability to work with little or no supervision.
- Ability to work in confined spaces.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear and smell. The employee must walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee is required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places and extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles; hazardous chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock and vibration.
