Day Shift: Monday - Friday (Saturday's as needed)

Position Summary:

The Sanitation Team Leader is a member of the sanitation team whose duties are to lead the team's that clean and sanitize the Shoreline Fruit processing plant. The Sanitation Team Leader supports the Sanitation Manager to enforce the policies and procedures surrounding food safety and hygiene.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Continuously improve processes and develop programs to complete master cleaning schedule as safely and efficiently as possible.
  • Support development and management of the sanitation program.
  • Review daily pass down with Sanitation Manager to receive information pertaining to the master cleaning schedule.
  • Communicate with all sanitation employees, giving direction as to work needing to be completed in specific areas throughout the plant with continued follow up.
  • Work with sanitation team to resolve routine questions and concerns.
  • Support the Sanitation Supervisor in planning and establishing cleaning schedules with team members for effective performance to enable assignments to meet fluctuating production goals.
  • Coordinate the activities of the employees engaged in the sanitation of the equipment in the plant
  • Support sanitation team as needed to perform cleaning and sanitizing of all production equipment per cleaning work instructions.
  • Train new employees and conduct verifications of training effectiveness.
  • Conduct training audits evaluating employee work processes to the work standards.
  • Conduct testing of sanitizer in various sanitizer buckets on all lines ensuring the proper PPM of sanitizer in each bucket.
  • Ensure all chemicals used in the plant are approved for such use and have current SDS information.
  • Document all chemicals taken from chemical cage and daily sanitation logs completed accurately, clearly and legibly.
  • Operate floor cleaning units.
  • Handle and apply cleaning and sanitizing chemicals safely ensuring that PPE & GMP guidelines are followed at all times.
  • Inspect sanitation equipment for inoperative equipment /ensure chemical cage is clean and organized.
  • May clean other areas and perform other tasks as required by the Sanitation Manager.
  • Operate forklift and scissor lift.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Assure proper completion of necessary forms (i.e. PTO, Absent, Tardy, LE etc.) for all sanitation staff providing to Sanitation Manager in a timely manner.
  • Motivating, developing, and directing employees as they work, identifying the best people for the job, providing feedback and input to the Sanitation Manager on staff performance.
  • Conduct pre-shift meetings to ensure efficient and effective communication with team.
  • Promote a teamwork environment in leading by example.
  • Ensure a prompt start time at the beginning of shifts, breaks and lunches.
  • Ensure plant security is always maintained.

Education & Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Strong computer skills, capable of trending data, organizing information and writing reports.
  • Experience in Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Preferred sanitation knowledge in the manufacturing food industry.
  • Previous work-related experience in food manufacturing preferred but not required if possesses the appropriate skills.

Work Environment:

  • Work in heated indoor areas
  • Exposure to warm, humid and wet conditions
  • Exposure to chemical cleaning solutions requiring protective gear.
  • Working around large processing equipment in which chemicals are used to complete the sanitation process.

Physical Requirements:

  • Perform varying tasks while standing, lifting, crouching, etc, during long periods of time.
  • Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms, and back such as lifting and handling pails and or boxes of product.
  • Job requires standing on feet and or walking throughout the entire work shift.
  • The ability to quickly and repeatedly bend, stretch twist, or reach out with your body and arms requiring flexibility.
  • The ability to move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp or manipulate, to work with fruit to include i.e.: sorting, de-clumping.
  • Be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
