Job Description: The Sanitation Technician I will be responsible for safely operating and cleaning equipment as assigned and of handling chemicals to sanitize production equipment and clean the production area, while following Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP). A Sanitation Technician I may be required to perform minor disassembly and assembly of equipment in order to facilitate the cleaning process. Essential functions include ensuring plant sanitary conditions according to established food safety and quality standards. When any deficiency in requirements occur, it is the responsibility of the Sanitation Technician I to take appropriate action and inform the appropriate personnel. Position Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesDUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Disassemble, clean and sanitize production machinery, equipment, tables, bins, pans, utensils and any other items utilized within the production process, using a variety of equipment, including high pressure water hoses.
- Responsible for cleaning and sanitizing all floors, walls, ceilings, structures, drains, vents, evaporators, light fixtures, etc. within production and support areas.
- Ensure proper care of equipment during the cleaning process, including:
- Covering control boxes and critical components to prevent water infiltration.
- Safe and non-destructive transportation and storage of equipment and components.
- Follow all safety guidelines, including:
- Chemical Safety
- Lockout/Tagout
- Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP)
- Reporting any unsafe conditions
- Immediately reporting any near miss, injury, or accident to Team Leader or Manager
- Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Sanitation Practices (GSP) as outlined by Ajinomoto Windsor.
- Handle equipment and chemicals in accordance with company, government and safety data sheet guidelines.
- Assist with other Sanitation work as needed.
Position QualificationsJOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- A High School Diploma or its equivalent required.
- Experience in sanitation procedures in a food manufacturing plant is helpful.
- Good English communication skills (reading, writing and verbal) are essential to interface with co-workers, Team Leaders and Managers.
- Must be willing to work together with co-workers as part of a team; also, must be self-motivated and able to work with little or no supervision.
