Job Description:
Highland Baking Company is seeking a detail-oriented Sanitor to join our team! The Sanitor plays a very important role in maintaining a clean and sanitary environment and ensuring compliance with all food safety standards. As a Sanitor, your work directly impacts the quality of our food products. Your responsibility is not just about cleaning and sanitation but about ensuring the highest food safety standards and preventing contamination.Key Responsibilities:
  • Clean and sanitize production equipment, machinery, and tools according to protocols.
  • Disassemble and reassemble equipment for thorough cleaning.
  • Ensure all surfaces, floors, walls, and ceilings in production and storage areas are thoroughly cleaned.
  • Follow food safety guidelines and regulations, including GMP and HACCP.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify and address potential contamination risks.
  • Handle hazardous materials and cleaning chemicals safely, following Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) guidelines.
  • Maintain detailed records of cleaning activities and schedules.
  • Properly dispose of waste materials and handle hazardous materials safely.
  • Operate and maintain sanitation equipment.
  • Adhere to health and safety policies, using PPE as required.
  • Collaborate with production staff to minimize disruptions.
  • Assist with special cleaning projects, such as deep cleaning or preparing spaces for events.
Experience:
  • Previous experience in a sanitation role within the food manufacturing industry is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and cleaning protocols is highly desirable.
  • Dependable, trustworthy, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to identifying and solving problems.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions precisely.
  • Good time-management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to lift heavy objects, stand for long periods and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Capability to work in varying temperatures and conditions typical of food manufacturing environments.
Working Conditions:Sanitors typically work indoors but may also be required to perform tasks outdoors. They often work in environments that require strict adherence to hygiene and safety standards. This may include working in cold storage areas, near food processing equipment, and around cleaning chemicals. They are scheduled to work various hours, including nights and weekends, and will be required to accommodate production schedules and sanitation needs.
