Job Description
Responsibilities:
1. Assist the Physical Therapist in evaluating and assessing patients' physical conditions, functional abilities, and goals.2. Collaborate with the Physical Therapist to develop individualized treatment plans and establish appropriate therapy goals.3. Implement therapeutic interventions and modalities as directed by the Physical Therapist to improve patients' mobility, strength, coordination, balance, and endurance.4. Guide patients in performing therapeutic exercises and activities, ensuring proper technique, safety, and progression.5. Monitor patients' progress, document treatment outcomes, and adjust treatment plans as necessary.6. Educate patients and their families on exercise programs, functional activities, and home exercise regimens to promote independent and continued recovery.7. Utilize specialized equipment and assistive devices to support patients during therapy sessions.8. Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate and integrate patient care, including providers, nurses, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists and other care team members9. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient evaluations, progress notes, and treatment records in accordance with hospital and regulatory guidelines.10. Adhere to infection control protocols, safety procedures, and ethical standards during patient care.11. Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in physical therapy techniques, research, and evidence-based practice.12. Participate in team meetings, continuing education programs, and professional development activities to enhance clinical knowledge and skills.13. Provide guidance and supervision to physical therapy aides or other support staff as assigned.
Qualifications:
1. At least an associate's degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.2. Current licensure or eligibility to practice as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the state.3. Previous experience working as a Physical Therapist Assistant, preferably in a hospital setting, with exposure to acute and outpatient care.4. Solid knowledge of anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, and therapeutic exercise principles.5. Proficient in administering therapeutic modalities, such as ultrasound, electrical stimulation, and heat/cold therapy.6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with patients, families, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams.7. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for accurate documentation and record-keeping.8. Ability to adapt to changing priorities, manage time efficiently, and work independently as well as in a team.9. Physical stamina and dexterity to assist patients in performing exercises and transfer techniques.10. Commitment to professional growth and continuous learning in the field of physical therapy.
