CAS is currently seeking a Manager, Scientific Information. This position will be located in our headquarters in Columbus, Ohio.

Position Summary:

This role is responsible for optimal and efficient operation of the team and resource deployment to achieve department and production, quality, and currency objectives related to CAS database-building. Leads a team of scientists involved in various aspects of database building of complex scientific information. Recruits, coaches and develops team of ~ 16-26 Information Scientists. The role reports directly to a Senior Manager, Scientific Information (Department Manager) in the Scientific Analysis & Insights unit of Content Operations.

Position Accountabilities:

* Leads goal achievement for Scientific Analysis & Insights (SAI) team of ~16-26 people. Ensures team's database building contributions meet CAS' high standards for quality, currency, and other goals of the organization, enabling CAS databases and products to remain world-class. Guides optimal and efficient operation of team and resources. Develops and manages team's plans, goals, performance metrics, and budget in alignment with Department and Division strategic goals and leadership. Makes effective and efficient use of available resources to achieve goals. Creates shared vision and defines clear roles and objectives for team. Oversees progress and inspires high performance for the team.

* Manages talent and culture using best practices. Cultivates positive, respectful environment in which people desire to work. Inspires employee engagement and high performance, appreciates and recognizes efforts and results, coaches and provides feedback. Fosters learning and career development. Enhances culture across teams led personally and across the Content Operations organization.

* Actively participates in planning, designing, and implementing improvements to work group, departmental, and SAI workflow processes and systems. Fosters identification of continuous improvement opportunities. Manages execution of plans that support increased organizational effectiveness, boosts operational efficiencies, and involves the team.

* Mitigates risk and solves problems. Exercises good judgment, discerns the action needed for team problems and issues, uses analytical skills, and makes good decisions as appropriate for role. Escalates issues appropriately, promptly, and proactively with leadership, HR, or other contacts. Maintains confidentiality.

* Participates and leads projects and action plans that benefit the team, department and SAI in conjunction with division and CAS strategic plans.

* Models collaborative leadership and ensures alignment across diverse stakeholders. Establishes and safeguards partnership and alignment among team, department, and SAI in support of normal operations, strategic initiatives, projects, and transformation. Collaborates across teams in Scientific Analysis and Insights Departments within Content Operations Division to optimize and align processes, practices, policies, tools, technologies, and culture.

* Champions cultural and other changes using best practices and in tandem with leadership and Human Resources. Grows skills in managing change and building positive culture. Enhances improves change agility for self and others.

* Ensures team grows knowledge and ability about team, Department, SAI, CO, and CAS. Continuously improves own and team's knowledge of team, department, or SAI operations, processes, database content, procedures, science, including, but not limited to, current policies, practices, technology, and information affecting the team, department, Scientific Analysis & Insights, CO division, and CAS.

* Establishes and sustains customer experience top-of-mind for individual contributors. Leads team in ways that positively affect customers and our CAS brand.

Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in chemistry or science required. Graduate degree in chemistry, science, business, or related field preferred - but not required.

* 2 or more years of experience in scientific information analysis.

* Knowledge of Content Operations processes and CAS content or comparable external experience with science-related solutions, information/intellectual property, or transformation in related industry

* Experience working on projects desirable
