Job Description Planner/Scheduler III
Primary Focus:
The primary focus of the Project Scheduler is to develop, detail, expand, and maintain owner-side project schedules for oneor more projects. Projects are $50MM+, multi-year duration with high level of complexity in regulatory and/or execution. The schedule planning and development will be done in collaboration with project stakeholders on project-specific activities while guided by the expertise in logic and sequence from the Project Scheduler.
Specific Accountabilities:
Provides logistics/scheduling related technical support and manages project schedules to assigned internal client groups for planning, procurement, development, construction and maintenance activities by:
Adhering to enterprise scheduling standards for development and implementation of schedules, ensures standards are current, e.g., Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
Updating and revising baseline and forecast schedules as projects progress from development to closeout stages, e.g., updating the schedules based on physical percent complete from the Field Construction Analysts and other sources of progress reporting, incorporating change management into the baseline schedule, and updating forecast dates with input from the SMEs
Interfacing with project staff and stakeholders to gather the information required for accurate and timely management of the project schedules. This includes budget loading schedule activities to establish a performance measurement baseline and following established rules of credit for tracking progress during earned value reporting.
Interpreting performance of scheduled activities and communicating risks and trends to the Project Manager, e.g., analyzing the impacts that schedule updates will have on baseline plans, ensuring resource requirements for schedules are incorporated at planning stages and continuously developed through the project lifecycle,
Managing and reporting schedule performance variances and indicators
Work in close partnership with the Project Cost Controller to achieve accurate cost and schedule integration
Providing technical advice related to scheduling/planning/logistics. Developing detailed what-if schedules as requested to communicate options to the project team, identifying critical path elements and associated logic driven options, etc.
Representing the department by providing advice and coordination of internal projects and associated external activities, e.g., customers, partners, consultants, etc.
Providing technical and business advice on the preparation and disposition of documents required for project completion, e.g., providing reports, schedules, updates and input as required regarding scheduling and planning for the projects
Scope:
Impact of this role is typically confined to the assigned project, will interact with project team and external stakeholders as needed
Recommendations reviewed for accuracy
Reports directly to the Supervisor of Project Controls
Working Conditions:
Office environment
Overnight business or construction field trips may be required
Expectation to produce required reports and cost data in a timely manner
Occasional travel to field worksite locations. May require Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Technical college diploma or university degree in a related field
7+ years working experience, or combination of education and experience
Minimum 2 years experience planning/scheduling in midstream oil and gas industry, preferably facilities scope
Expert level knowledge of Primavera P6
Experience planning/scheduling multi-million dollar, complex projects
Specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise in project planning and scheduling
Aptitude and communications skills related to acting independently as a senior logistics/scheduling professional
Ability to effectively manage and prioritize workload in a fast paced and dynamic environment and resolve issues in a timely manner
Possess an aptitude for successfully building relationships with project staff and Company leadership.
Verbal and written communication typically consists of the collection and relay of complex technical facts and analysis of business implications
Experience in earned value management analysis and reporting
Ability to articulate technical schedule data in detail to the project team as well as summarize for senior leadership that may or may not have schedule technical knowledge
Capable of making decisions that are normally within established guidelines
