Position Description: The construction Scheduler will support ongoing projects with schedule preparation, updates, analysis, and narratives. They will also support estimating and pursuits of projects by preparing schedules that can be used to corroborate and support estimate values and client schedule requirement feasibility. The construction Scheduler reports to the Scheduling Manager and interacts with stakeholders within Project Management, Estimating, Business Development and Field Operations departments. Salary range: $115,000 - $130,000 Core Responsibilities:
- Participate in the training program for Project Team members that focuses on scheduling best practices and for using schedules as a management tool.
- Work collaboratively with proposal/estimating team(s) to create proposal-level schedules for pursuits and RFPs for Civil & Utility.
- Manage technical components of schedule and provide guidance to project teams on project schedule updates, requisition development, claims management and development.
- Knowledge of maintaining the EPS structure within P6.
- Responsible for effectively and efficiently managing multiple tasks and deliverables effectively.
- Responsible for developing, updating, and analyzing detailed execution schedules for simultaneous projects of varying size, market sector, and locations.
- Establish baseline schedules: summary and detailed review of baseline durations, logic, resources, costs, cost curves, and resource histograms.
- Identify schedule activities that control the overall project and critical path.
- Review periodic CPM Updates, provide Primavera schedule comparison reports and detailed review narratives.
- Perform Earned Value analysis and develop reports.
- Provide recommendations for schedule recovery/acceleration. Recovery schedule reviews and perform what-if scenario analysis with assessments of potential risk exposures, conflicts, limitations, or benefits.
- Maintain schedule log and attend project progress weekly/bi-weekly/monthly meetings in accordance with contract requirements.
- Track changes in scheduling logic and their effect/impacts on the critical, interim milestones and project completion dates.
- Assess and provide recommendations to resolve schedule issues, scope changes, or delays to the Project Team and Executive Management.
- Prepare schedule fragments for time impacted change orders.
- Review and understand all bid documents related to schedule and project controls.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years' experience in schedule management and development for construction projects using the critical path method technique using Primavera or equivalent experience.
- B.S. in Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline.
- Proficient in Oracle/Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project software.
- The ability to implement, analyze and explain the Critical Path Method. Needs to know proper use of durations, scheduling logic, lags, float, constraints, etc. that drive critical paths.
- Strong knowledge and development of calendars, activity coding and WBS structures.
- Knows what to ask and how to ask for creation of schedule and subsequent updates.
- Capable of using the schedule as a requisition tool.
- The ability to understand and sequence work in the most efficient manner.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of P6 from an IT perspective, i.e. database setup, administration and management.
- Strong writing and verbal communication skills.
- Strong management and coordination skills with adherence to scope budget and schedule.
- Ability to develop schedule activity durations and resources from an estimating report.
- Proven experience in effectively reporting and communicating schedule progress, variances, and recommendations to project team.
- Strong field construction experience - successful candidates will understand construction sequencing, durations, dependencies, and production.
- Background knowledge of the civil engineering and construction industry practices and standards.
