Responsible for receiving, processing and documenting referral or prior authorization requests from the clinical areas.#Also, responsible for regularly scheduling ancillary and other depts as needed and assuring auths are received prior to exam/appt date or rescheduling accordingly. Function as part of a team-based, patient-centered care serving all patients and depts within organization as needed. Provide excellent customer service to all internal and external customers, which includes team members, patients, volunteers, students, visitors, and vendors, by consistently exceeding the customer#s expectations. Comply with organizational policies, procedures, standards of care and related laws and regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA regulations. Protect the dignity, privacy and confidentiality of patients and their families, as well as co-workers and others.# Support mission and goals of RRH, organizational quality and patient-centered care. Incorporate core organizational values of quality, respect, integrity, partnership and compassion in all activities and decisions. Essential Functions: 1.# Ability to use resource scheduling to schedule ancillary exams assuring patients are informed of all necessary info to assure patient throughput is smooth and efficient.# Additionally obtains insurance pre-authorization for patients and re-authorization of additional treatment. Ensures insurance carrier documentation requirements are met and referral support documentation is filed in patient#s medical record.# 2.# Efficiently manages correspondence with patients, physicians, specialists, and insurance companies. Documents pertinent information where appropriate.# 3.#Works in collaboration with ancillary depts and Patient Financial Services to improve the Revenue Cycle process assuring all auths are obtained prior to exam/appt date or rescheduling takes place prior to appt. Continually improve work process to enhance service and customer relations. 4.# Works to improve referral processes, communication, and patient care as it relates to keeping up with continual changes in the health insurance with regards to referrals and communicates those changes as appropriate. 5.# Ability to read, understand, write, and communicate effectively in the English language 6. Works with other staff member to learn and perform #other# duties including but not limited to surgical auths and ancillary dept scheduling.############## 7.# Must be able to put into practice Service Excellence skills with patients, families and co-workers. 8. Has understanding and knowledge of HIS and scheduling software and able to navigate such systems. 9. Continually demonstrates abilities to perform all functions of dept including but not limited to obtaining auths and scheduling# 10. Adequately communicates w/ manager/director, assuring all necessary information is passed on in an accurate and timely manner.# Perform other duties as assigned and necessary.
