Responsibilities
Under the general supervision of the Director Occupational Medicine, performs a variety of duties related to scheduling patients for Occupational Medicine and some ancillary services on the main hospital campus and off sites. This includes customer service to physician offices, patients, contracts, and hospital departments. The schedulers usually coordinate with staff, nurses, patients and other medical departments while setting up appointments over the phone or in person. The Scheduler performs all duties and function in relation to the scheduling and registration of Occupational Medicine exams and procedures. Effectively handles a range of 60 plus calls per day with minimal or no error. Scheduler communicates all relative preparation instructions to patients as necessary. Practices proper phone etiquette and are always courteous and respectful towards patients, referring physician offices, companies and co-workers. Schedules patient appointments called in by contractual companies and employees. Obtains patient demographic information, enters it with orders in Meditech, posts charges. Other related duties as required.
Qualifications
High school graduate or equivalent required. Minimum of one year experience as a scheduler and has previous professional experience within a medical setting. Knowledge of medical terminology, occupational exams and procedures preferred. Ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and in writing. Fluent bilingual competencies (Spanish and English) preferred. Demonstrated proficiency in MS office suite of products.
