Position Summary
Be the difference and put your passion into action - become a Scholar Coach! Our state has some of the largest education disparities in the nation, but together we can help change that! Join an innovative team dedicated to advancing equity and helping all students succeed.
As a Scholar Coach, you'll serve at a local school and be embedded in a K-3 classroom. You'll partner with the classroom teacher to promote scholastic engagement and help students become better readers. Every day, you'll also meet with students one-on-one or in pairs to provide extra practice and build skills. With training and on-site coaching, you'll be prepared to help kids succeed. Your commitment during school hours throughout the academic year guarantees a significant impact.

It Starts with a Passion
Reading Corps takes everyday people and trains them to be great Scholar Coaches. Anyone can become a Scholar Coach as long as they have a passion to make a difference - and meet the following minimum qualifications.
By the time they begin their service, our Scholar Coaches are:
*Applicants who have received deferred action for childhood arrivals (DACA) through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security are not eligible to serve in our programs at this time. DACA applicants may be eligible for Americorps VISTA programs. For more information, click here.
