Responsible for supervising, supporting and assisting with the operations of the YMCA Before and After School Care Program under the direction of the Childcare Director 2 position. Community Managers are responsible for managing Before and After School enrichment sites, monitoring their budget, maintaining compliance, fulfilling licensing requirements implementing programs and curriculum and staffing.BENEFITS: We offer an extensive benefits package for our full-time employees which includes:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Personnel Management:Maintain stable high quality staffing which complies with licensing regulations, insures strong leadership and provides optimal experiences for youth at all sites through creative programming.
  • Proactively identify staffing needs and trends within areas of responsibility.
  • Assist with interviewing and staff hiring process accordance with HR and licensing guidelines.
  • Prepare new hires for onboarding at assigned locations by providing orientation, training and career development under the direction of Childcare Director 2.
  • Proactively monitor the qualification status for all site staff including but not limited to CPR/FA, Code of Conduct, MSDE requirements, etc.
  • Work with Licensing Coordinator to ensure all licensing paperwork has been updated and completed within the required time frame as determined by MSDE.
  • Directly supervise all BASE Site staff for assigned locations.
  • Maintain compliance with all Paycom procedures.
  • Address, document and resolve performance related and/or disciplinary issues in accordance with HR guidelines.
  • Provide initial response to address and resolve complaints and concerns with parents, other staff and school personnel, completing appropriate documentation. Escalate concerns to Childcare Director 2 as appropriate.
  • Recognize positive results and provide feedback regarding staff and site performance through staff recognition program.
  • Observe site staff performance on a weekly basis, writing and conducting 90 day reviews and annual performance reviews for site directors
  • Coach and mentor site directors in the writing and conducting of 90 day reviews and annual performance reviews for teachers and aides.
  • Assist in termination of site staff with direction and guidance from Childcare Director 2 and in accordance with HR guidelines.
  • Receive all leave requests within Paycom and approve/deny based on coverage availability and approval of Childcare Director 2.
Fiscal Management:
  • Assist in the development of each individual site budget based on annual budget calendar.
  • Complete requested monthly reports as requested by Childcare Director 2 or Childcare Business Office manager within designated timeline.
  • Monitor site revenue and expenses to insure they meet budgeted guidelines. Take corrective action as needed.
  • Assist Childcare Business Office with onboarding waitlisted youth to operate at full capacity according to licensing requirements.
  • Follow supply request procedures, to include assisting in the organization, assessment and compiling of supply requests to be submitted to purchasing department.
  • Review each site budget with Site Director to insure understanding and compliance.
  • Support the Childcare Business Office with tracking of current and disenrolled participants.
  • Consistently monitor waitlists for assigned sites to support budget expectations and reach full capacity at assigned sites.
Program Management:Work in collaboration with Education Manager and Childcare Director 2 to ensure high quality programming and experiences with curriculum, hands on and service based learning that support 21st century learning initiatives.
  • Assist in creating a safe and positive environment, high quality programming and optimal experiences in compliance with MSDE guidelines at assigned supervised school sites.
  • Assist Education Manager, Licensing Coordinator and Childcare Director 2 with weekly quality site visits. Complete any site visit reports upon request and review with site staff, Childcare Director 2 and Education Manager.
  • Insure that staff develop and maintain positive parent and child relationships through family events as appropriate.
  • Proactively work with Site Directors and Childcare Director 2 to support and be a bridge to communication with our partners at FCPS and school personnel.
  • Maintain successful working relationships with the Licensing Coordinator.
  • Provide expertise and staff support in the area of children's behavioral issues and behavior management.
  • Provide support to Site Directors who need to improve the quality of the programs activities in connection with the Education Manager's enrichment curriculum.
  • Be available both in person and via phone during all hours of program operation to assist assigned sites as needed.
  • Support Childcare Director 2 to ensure all sites comply with the EXCELS program and are progressing to achieve a higher level.
  • Be on-call contact for assigned school sites. Subject to substitute duties when needed.
  • Attain MSDE accreditation requirements to director level within 6 months of hire.
  • Oversee the completion and distribution of monthly newsletter per assigned sites.
  • Maintain licensing compliance content on parent boards with updates at assigned sites.
Administrative:Support and collaborate with the Childcare Director 2 to perform all administrative functions as they relate to the operation of the BASE department and as a part of the YMCA management team.
  • Attend all required organizational staff meetings and conduct monthly staff meetings with site staff at assigned sites.
  • Perform personnel related administrative duties including but not limited to the following: time sheet approval in Paycom, leave requests, accrual reports, incident/accident reports, licensing paperwork, etc. in a timely fashion and in accordance with all YMCA policies and procedures.
  • Learn all technical management systems including EXCELS, Daxco, SGA, Slack and Paycom to support operations of the BASE department.
  • Develop a positive working relationship with assigned school sites administrative staff. Support multiple school partnerships/events on behalf of the YMCA.
  • Work directly with assigned site staff and their school community to support departmental annual campaign goals set by Childcare Director 2.
  • Perform all Cause Driven Leader on Duty responsibilities in support of YMCA facilities and programs.
  • Provide contributions, support, implementation and evaluation of BASE program in alignment with organizational strategic goals.
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of Healthy Kids Day.
  • Work with Childcare Director 2 and Education Manager to implement all YMCA mandated staff training as needed to enhance all aspects of program delivery. Includes the completion of all other organizational and state required training as directed.
  • Become MSDE accredited.
  • Responsible for sorting and distributing food and program supplies for all assigned sites.
  • Comply with the YMCA dress code while working at or representing the YMCA.
  • Maintain professional image and attitude at all times.
QualificationsQUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
  • Requires a 4-year college degree or Associate Degree plus relevant experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working as a director of a licensed child care program, or similar setting such as public or private school or a parks/recreation program.
  • Has a minimum of 3 years' experience directly supervising full time and part time staff.
  • Experience with site management and administrative duties.
  • Must have exceptional work ethic and strength of character.
  • Requires strong communication skills.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills, proven history of strong leadership, and exceptional skills in conflict management and resolution.
  • Must have demonstrated through previous experience superior ability to manage time, multi-task and organize his/her work, and train/supervise staff effectively.
